[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

I just called Tesla, who directed me to Tesla Technical Support, who said "I've heard something about that, and something about there being a couple of different ways of measuring horsepower." When I explained that no matter how you measure horsepower, you can't get to 691 hp by inverting less...

[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

I got the 6.2...188 software upgrade today, and once again, it is not THE upgrade that yields 691 hp. Note the inverter never comes close to 480kW, let alone 515kW.

[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

I'll call them again if I don't see 515kW after the next software update following April 30th. Tesla has been very good to me, for example in early 2013 after I thoroughly flogged my Sig P85 at the racetrack, and the battery was bricked from "battery contacts WELDED open," they simply gave me a...

[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

I've called Tesla about the discrepancy between the advertised power and the actual inverter readout in my P85D, twice since December 2014. Each time I got the same exact canned answer: "A 'power upgrade is forthcoming.'" I asked when, and was told "We don't know" both times. My last call to...

[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

Yes, exactly, always less than 480, no matter what the state of charge. I've been complaining about this since January. If anyone has seen >480, I'd love to see a screenshot.

    I expected more from a P85D

Has anybody even seen or photographed the inverter gauge providing 480kW or more yet?

Rumor: P85D firmware update to increase 0-60 performance to 2.8s

LOL! I heard this rumor on October 10th, when I ordered my P85D. Except the Tesla rep said that he saw long strings of 0-60 runs between 2.7 and 2.75 seconds. Based on the inverter readings from my current P85D, I think this has to be true. My inverter gauge has never made it all the way up...

One Man's P85+ versus P85 experience... am I being unfair to the P85?

As a new member of the P85D crowd, having also owned a Sig P85 for over 2 years previously, the + suspension in the P85D is definitely stiffer, sharper, grippier, and more engaging. A huge upgrade. I'm very glad it was included in the price of the D.

Annoyed by steering mode deletion in P85D

I just tried the new "sport" steering setting on the P85D an I love it. Coming from the world of sports cars and race cars, the high resistance feels more like direct steering, and the very tight turning ratio makes it possible to do 90 degree corners without moving either hand on the wheel...

What does "...improve P85D performance at high speed..." mean?

Sure, since we're already into the calculation of small numbers. I saw that the P85D delivered a peak 1.29G of acceleration force during a 0-60 timing run. If the upcoming "power system" upgrade could sustain that force, it would result in a 0-60 time of 2.15 seconds. So I don't think that's...

    I expected more from a P85D

I picked up my P85D in Denver on December 20th, after trading in my 2012 Signature P85, and I agree totally about the improved suspension and handling. My other car is a 2014 Audi R8 V10 with a VF-Engineering supercharger that gives it 750 bhp and 590 ft lbs of torque. The Tesla P85D, believe it...

    Official: Model S Service Plans

I tried to purchase 4yr/unlimited ranger visits, but the My Tesla website would not allow me to buy any service plan. It said nothing was available. I emailed, and just got a call back from Tesla explaining that the service plans were not deemed legal in a few states, such as Connecticut...

Anyone taken their MSP to a track day yet? Care to share?

I think the amount of extra energy used on the track is exactly the same for the Tesla S P85 as it is for the Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and my Audi R8 V10, which gets 20 mpg on the highway and 4 mpg on the track. If you could defeat the "projected range < 30" power limiter, and keep driving...

    Albuquerque

Congrats rlpm. Maybe we could get a few of us locals together for a group track day at Sandia.

Anyone taken their MSP to a track day yet? Care to share?

Just reposting a couple of vids from yesterday's track session at Sandia Motorsports Park. The acceleration out of corners is great, but the power limitation to 160kW when predicted miles reach 31 is a drag. Wish it could be disabled.
