Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Take the factory readout of acceleration forces with a MASSIVE grain of salt. Those are about 50% optimistic if not more.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

To @gearchruncher's point, it doesnt really matter what you run if you're not running against nationally competitive folk. Run what ever you want cause as the old joke goes, dont get mad at the ES miata that shows up and raw times most people (because driver). Quite the difference between...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Time to MPH isnt directly translated to distance time because area under the curve. But high 10s are looking probably.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I timed 0-100mph a few times and got low 7s going by as soon as I see the camera shake which is also right about when the 0 pops up and stopping at 100. This should be on the slow end of things since the car hasnt quite moved yet. But fastestlaps.com has the TM3p at 8.2s for 0-160kph (100mph)...

Yeah, for sure. The real "fast" cars are all playing with high speed non-sense on the street. Areas I have zero interest in, but gotta make sure we don't get ignorant about it. Pure straight line is lame anyways, its why many have gone Plaid back to TM3p

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The previous comments were "The irony of my comment was that you don’t need to worry about any Dodge Charger ever in any model year M3P. But they’re the ones that always seem to want to race 😂" The new car is irrelevant right now, no one has one. But "any model year M3P", yeah no. Any of the...

A Hellcat traps in the upper 120s, from anything over 40 it will walk a TM3p

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

With people finding them available, someone needs to just talk with the staff to get a full charged one to help get a dragy run. At least the guys in my old area were all for us ragging on the tester cars. It’s probably what convinced us to buy one in the first place. I’m pretty sure the folks...

Current favorite tire for Model 3

Ps4S is my fav all around tire. Amazing in the wet and pretty good in the dry. And wears like iron relative to the super 200tw tires. Need to try ECS02 next time.

Nice job snagging a draggy pull. Just looking at the G-accel vs speed, at 100kph its looking pretty close to the previous cars accel. Not seeming to be a whole lot difference than what we already have up top but holds closer to 1g slightly longer.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

The change from 9" to 11" on the same 275 A052 was pretty dramatic in how the car felt. Grip was up even though tires are getting pretty well aged. I'm almost down to no tread on the inside and ~2/32s on the outside. But still, they felt better than new being stretch rather than pinched. This...

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Its just far more complicated than us looking at it as a simple mechanical system. Have you looked at undercar videos of how much a tire squirms on track? Its A LOT. There are several hard to explain reasons Ive come to this conclusion, but my best evidence is the tire wear on 9" wheel vs 11"...

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Its about the angle that it moves. The tire/wheel is basically a trapezium so how the tire rolls will depend on the angles of the wall and the inside wall of a pinched tire will buckle inward and upward (relative to wheel center). A stretched tire will deflect but push down as the wall moves.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Tesla is absolutely the boogeyman car right now. But its just so misunderstood. People seem to have this idea that CG is underground, its makes 1000hp, and can pull 2gs from apex to the next entry. But its still an AWD car with 3 open diffs and and weighs over 4000lbs. It just happens to punch...

Multiple M3Ps dropping out of Track Mode for no reason

Not of too much help but first event of the year I had the car drop out of track mode on first AutoX run. Worried it might be related to the billet uprights and ABS sensors, I pulled the USB (Got idea from this thread), and ran again. Ive done ~75 more runs and it hasnt happened again with USB...
