2018 Model S - WTH two bolts are on the back of the steering wheel?

Just wanted to provide an update. Went back to the SC and they thought that 2018 had 3 sizes - T20, T25, and T30, as they were transitioning from the smaller to larger sizes at that time. Turns out I'd gotten the screws loose, and I was able to remove the airbag enclosure. The screws just...

2018 Model S - WTH two bolts are on the back of the steering wheel?

Ugh, so weeks later and I still haven't fixed this. I just can't seem to get it out and I don't want to strip it. I asked a service center advisor to ask one of the techs and apparently he said T30, but I just can't seem to get that to fit. Crazy how hard it is to find a definitive answer on...

2018 Model S HW2.5->FSD upgrade - what do you think the challenge is here?

Per the title, I have a mid-2018, refreshed Model S with HW2.5. I pulled the trigger and bought the FSD upgrade and dropped the car off first thing Monday morning. Service advisor was very nice and he said he'd keep me posted of any issues, which if anything usually occured with firmware...

Does $2k upgrade from EAP to FSD include upgrading CW 2.5 to FSD computer for free?

Rceently Tesla originally provide a near-zero estimate from HW 2.5 to 3.0 (EAP currently not FSD) then changed the estimate a week later when I showed up. The manager had confirmed when I spoke to heim on 4/29 that FSD purchase comes with a complimentary computer upgrade. I decided to pull the...

2018 Model S - WTH two bolts are on the back of the steering wheel?

Ah, got it. I just ruled out T30 again on mine, so this must be it. Thanks again!

2018 Model S - WTH two bolts are on the back of the steering wheel?

I was just about to reply to @VectraT to thank him or her for confirming my original suspicion, and now this, lol. It certainly feels like it's one of those 3 (5/32,T25, or T30) and I am still inclined to doubt the first and the last just doesn't seem to fit. I've been trying to get a good pic...

2018 Model S - WTH two bolts are on the back of the steering wheel?

No one knows what size Torx you need to remove the two screws from the back of the steering wheel? Still finding zero info online, which is crazy to me. Looks like the refresh uses four T27 screws, but can't find anything on the 2017-2022 range models.

2018 Model S - WTH two bolts are on the back of the steering wheel?

I feel like this is a dumb question but I Googled it and I can't find consistent answers. Some people say they are T25, others T27, and honestly I'm not sure either are fitting in mine. Scroll wheel broke and I'm trying to replace it, but I can't get past step one, LOL.

MY18 - Welp, finally lost my second and only remaining fob - any recommendations on how to replace?

Yep, they got back to me and it looks like about $175 for the fob and $30 to program, give or take. About the same all said and done as what it cost on my newish-model SUV one I add the lower fob cost to the higher programming cost. That said, it's well under the $500/per that I'd been worried...

MY18 - Welp, finally lost my second and only remaining fob - any recommendations on how to replace?

Just this. My wife lost one fob about a year ago, and somehow I lost the other today while watching Oppenheimer at the theatre. So bummed. Is service still the only way to get a replacement, and are they still a fortune to replace?

Suddenly facing "Key not in vehicle, unable to drive" unless it is sitting in rear of the console - WTH?

Hey @DerbyDave and @EVRider-FL - I appreciate your responses. Unfortunately I didn't get a notification of them, so I guess I'll go check my settings. In any case, I'd definitely tried the key fob update and it said they were good. I'd also replaced the fob battery. Cleared the console area...

Suddenly facing "Key not in vehicle, unable to drive" unless it is sitting in rear of the console - WTH?

Oh yeah, and the key works fine to lock/unlock, and I even tried the Fob Update in the settings and placed my key in the designated area and it tells me my fob is up to date.

Suddenly facing "Key not in vehicle, unable to drive" unless it is sitting in rear of the console - WTH?

So my mid 2018 Model S suddenly started acting differently, as it is refusing to acknowledge the key in the car unless placed in the rear of the console near the USB ports. For 3 years I've been able to have it in my pockets, just about anywhere in the console, on the passenger seat, etc. and...
