    Considering buying a 2019/2020 X - concerned about “X issues” thoughts please!

My 2016 P90D has been relatively problem free with one exception: Suspension I purchased it 2yr ago w/ 89k on it, and I'm currently at 126k. In my 2yrs, most of my expense has been suspension work: front upper and both lower sets of control arms, rear camber and toe arms, a wheel bearing, and...

Fender trim came off going through puddle

I had to have both fender garnishes replaced at the same time: Driver - Bumped a snow pile and it pulled free, eventually broke loose Passenger - While waiting for "parts" - the passenger side literally flew off while driving down the highway - no previous damage to garnish, so real weird...

Aftermarket wiper blade for Model X (2019)?

I got these via Vine a while back, and they have held up well, and are identical to OEM: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09Y3HR6L9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Creaking/Squeaking control arm ball joint fix

That's likely the aft lower control arms. That's where my suspension journey started 😂

FS :2016 Model X P90D Ludicrous - Loaded with all options - CPO Warranty - Matte Black Wrap - SOLD

If you bought from Tesla as used, you should be able to run the VIN through EV-CPO and return the SC value. If SC01, it should confidently transfer in a private sale. :)

    Supercharger - Eagan, MN

I used to be there every day, as my kiddos were in daycare across the parking lot. I'm not over there as often now as they're in preschool/elementary. In other words, Tesla did me no favors taking so long to get this one going. 😂

Most reliable way to buy a used 2016-2018 Model X - tesla direct, carmax, carvana, shift, vroom?

Cashier's check or direct wire transfer would be preferable ways of payment for the seller. I financed my private party Model X purchase back in fall of 2021, and it was pretty painless. Had everything setup w/ my local CU before I flew out to Florida. Once I inspected and drove the car, I...

    '23 X vs '23 Y

I was faced w/ this choice in summer of 2021. I really wanted an X, and the used pricing was finally coming to about the same price as a brand new Y at the time, but then Tesla raised the pricing on the Y. I shopped and waited, and got a '16 Model X P90D, private party. Drove it home from SE...

Is the model x good in the snow?

I live in Minnesota, so here's what I can tell you about my '16 Model X in snow: 1. It handles better than any SUV/Crossover I have ever owned (BMW X5, Subaru Tribeca, Infinti QX60, etc etc) - the traction control and braking systems do an excellent job! 2. Depending on how slick it is where...

Did I find a rare beast?

Depending on ownership/sale history, you may be able to drop the VIN into EV-CPO and see the full build options. It's not a guarantee, but should be accurate as of the last time Tesla publicly posted it for sale (assuming it was resold by Tesla, etc). The P90D badging being underlined...

Impact of suspension ride height and regenerative braking settings on range and Wh/mile

I'm in Minnesota, and my average winter wh/mi is about 420 - 460 depending on wind and ambient temps in the typical 15F - 30F range. Last week, it was -10F and windy, and I was up over 500. I hit 600wh/mi driving my son back and forth to school. I also run 19" square wheels and snow tires in...

Buying a Used MX (2016-2017) Final Checklist

I wasn't super clear: There are fore and aft lower control arms, or at least there are on the Performance. I had to get both sets done. Tesla replaced the fore arms, as they were sqeaking pretty bad. They said everything else was "in spec". I immediately noticed a big jump in consumption, I...

Buying a Used MX (2016-2017) Final Checklist

Were both control arm sets up front replaced? Suspension is a big wear item on the X. I have an early 2016, and just recently had to do both lower sets and the rear camber and toe arms. I also had the front brakes/rotors replaced. Was about $6k USD all said and done.

Buying used Tesla Y or X.

I debated the Y, even before the 7 seat was actually being produced. Ultimately, they raised the price to where it no longer made sense for me given how much more I liked the X. I ended up w/ a 2016 X and have been very happy with it. The S with rear facing seats will work for an occasional...

Wiper Blade Sizes and Wiper fluid question

The aftermarket wipers from Amazon are identical to the Tesla wipers. They're about $20 less expensive and you don't have to deal w/ Tesla to get them. Really easy to install. Here's the old next to the new (new ones still have the covers over the actual blade).
