Anyone have the hard top?

I'm considering getting one, but I'm curious: does it reduce the noise level in the car at all?

Thanks!

Ben

I don't know if it is quieter because mine is still backordered. If you are looking, check out Sector 111 web site.

Yeah, I will almost certainly purchase that one. I figured there would be a better chance of someone having the OEM top, however. Maybe not?

Loads of folks have the hardtop, the CF hardtop, however, is a different story...

Great, now I just need one or more of them to find this thread and comment on the experience.

I have the hardtop but have not put it on for a while as it's still sunny enough in the bay area. I don't remember a big difference of noise between the soft and hard tops.

Actually it feels like you hear the engine more with the soft top than topless. Same with the hard top.

The big difference with the hard top is that it's harder to enter/exit the car than with the soft top. The hard top is a bit lower on the sides than the soft top.

I agree. I feel the road noise and motor whine is coming from the cockpit walls and floor pan. Sound insulation would help here but you pay a small weight penalty.

I have the hard top, but have not attached it in awhile.

It definitely reduces/eliminates wind noise, but the motor is still quite audible .... same with much of the tire/road noise.

Unless you live in a climate that gets snow, I don't quite see a reason for the hard top. The soft top is much easier to install/remove, it works fine in the rain, it can be taken with you in the trunk, and it doesn't hide the nice carbon fiber roll bar. I didn't buy the hard top for my car and haven't once wished I had.
