Tesla slashes production costs, eyes July profit | Industries | Consumer Goods & Retail | Reuters

"Combined with a steady production volume of 20 to 30 per week in the third quarter this year and a good take-up rate of the higher priced Roadster Sport, we expect to cross over into profitability next month," Musk wrote.

Unless... my 695 means something different than what #553 represents. I got 695 by taking my order number 722 (which Tesla gave me) and subtracting the non-production cars. Is there more that I need to subtract out? That order number / production number / VIN translation has always confused me.
And I just received my VIN, and the last three digits are 618. So there's the full story. My car starts production this week.

That sounds right. Angie at Tesla telephoned me 2 weeks ago and said my Roadster starts production on 6/29 my number is 635

Now 618 makes sense with the current timing of 553 having started June 8th two weeks ago. It never made sense for you to have a 700+ number and still be starting so soon.

I think I jumped ahead of a bunch of people because I locked in my options only about a week after being able to, and then remitted my full payment almost immediately upon Tesla asking for it.

Have any 2010s been delivered yet, or are they still working on QC?

I can't say for sure that no 2010s have been delivered yet, but I can say that I'm still awaiting #508, with hardly any information as to why it has been held up and no estimate on a delivery date. It began production on May 12th and arrived in the bay area on or about June 5th. I can only imagine how many cars must be stacked up there by now.

If anyone in proximity can gather some intel and find out why the cars are not moving forward as well as a decent prediction on when they might expect to complete them, I'd be very grateful. I was able to remain patient for the first 22 months, but this past month of waiting has been excrutiating given all the stories from existing owners.

I am going to be in the bay area on July 1st-3rd so I will try to get an accurate update on the highest VIN number present and what has been delivered.

Also a ton of pictures.
