A great weekend excursion for any Tesla owner or group in Northern California is the Tallman Hotel in Upper Lake, near Clear Lake in Lake County. It's an easy 110 miles north of SF and 100 miles west of Sacramento on Hwy 20 between Hwy 101 and I5. The Tallman is the first in the County to offer free charging to electric vehicle owners. In addition it's the best hotel and nicest restaurant in this emerging wine country. A great trip while here would be a 75 mile circle around the lake, visiting wonderful wineries like Ceago, Brassfield, Vigilance and Gragory Graham.

A "Green" Hotel
The Hotel may be historic, but it does everything possible to be energy efficient and meet other environmental standards. Solar panels, quiet and efficient geo-exchange heating and cooling systems, market garden, organic cleaning products, composting, recycling and and more!
We were awarded the 2009 Green Guidelines Challenge AND, effective February 2011, the Tallman became the first site in Lake County to install an electric car charging station. Located in our parking lot (below left), the station can charge any 2010 or later all electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles and prior year vehicles (like the three wheeled Sparrows at left) with an adapter. The charge is FREE, so charge up while eating in the Blue Wing or staying overnight at the Tallman.
