40/60 Kwh power stats curiosity

On the Tesla Options and Pricing page (http://www.teslamotors.com/models/options) they list the 0-60 times and top speed but are choosing to not reveal the motor horsepower, torque or 1/4 mile time for the time being. Can you help me understand why? I can understand if all the power stats were missing but why reveal some and not others? Does that give us a clue as to how the lower capacity batts will behave when released?

HP and torque are very accurate numbers but the 0-60 and 1/4 mile are a bit fuzzier?

No idea really tho. Maybe they are still tweaking the power curve for those battery packs.

Have they built any production cars with 40 kWh or 60 kWh batteries? Perhaps they're waiting on that before posting official numbers.

Considering that Elon held a gun to the heads of the engineers 3 weeks before launch to improve 70-90 mph acceleration on the sigs, I am not at all surprised that the numbers on the 40 and 60 kWh models are not available yet.

0-60 and top speed are rough numbers that most people rarely measure accurately so it's okay to guesstimate and adjust later if necessary. Motor HP and torque are hard numbers, so they need to have a tested vehicles with those two packs first before posting them.

1/4 mile is a special case: most people measure this accurately at a drag strip, although most manufacturers don't post this number official. I think it's a harder number to guesstimate than 0-60 because there are more variables you have to account for. Plus there's more absolute variance for a 1/4 mile time vs a 0-60 time (example, 10% of 5.0 seconds is +-0.5 seconds, but 10% of 14 seconds is +-1.4 seconds).
