    Get Amped Tour: Fremont, 6/23-24

We are P957, and so we have yet to receive an invite for the first test drive date. As we are in Texas, I'm hopeful that they will smooth the reservation process out after this initial run so that there is enough time to purchase reasonable airfare for a future test drive date. I'm hoping to make a weekend trip with my wife, but it would be nice to be able to plan it.

With test drive registrations underway, I was hoping to get some details on the process. The current test drive thread is getting a little unwieldy, and it is focused on the receipt of emails, so this seems like a good thread to start.

I guess my main question is whether there is a choice at sign-up regarding the performance option? I really wish that I could get a comparative test drive between the two versions, as we are still on the fence regarding the performance upgrade.

The second question is how many time slots are available, and can you tell how many spaces per time slot? Are they scheduled hourly? My vision is they will have a group of 10 cars and 10 Tesla reps with ten groups taken in for a briefing along with a chance to look over the 10 vehicles. After the briefing and tour of colors and interiors, they start the 10 rides in pretty rapid fire order (maybe a minute or two apart). Kind of like a time-trial in a bike race. Perhaps the aggressive drivers can even make a pass. Obviously, this is just a guess by me. If they have 20 vehicles available, they could do a similar structure with twice the number of drives.

Any other details revealed in the email or the registration process?

    Thanks in advance.

    Andy

They ask you to arrive 30 min early, but I wonder if you can hang out there all day long?

DrComputer posted screenshots of the invite email on the other thread.

Another forum member shared, via PM, the following screenshot of the sign up web form itself:

I'm wondering that too... or at least if they'll be letting people peek at the factory like they did back in October. I missed that event.

Now that they're actually making cars, I'm thinking any factory viewing, if available, will be less intimate than October was, but it's still cool to gawk at factory robots.

It'll be cool if they let visitors atleast see the view from the "bridge":

Tesla Motors prepares for June 22 launch of Tesla S all-electric sedan

"People used to think we were a joke," said Gilbert Passin, Tesla's vice president of manufacturing, as he stood on "the bridge," a second-floor walkway overlooking the assembly line.
I don't think folks would be rushed out; after our beta test rides back in October, taking the factory tour apart (probably not an option this time), we were able to hang out outside in an elevated viewing area (with hors d'oeuvres and such) looking at others taking the rides.

Slightly OT but did anyone notice that the picture in the invite is of a configuration that isn't offered? Looks to be Dolphin Grey with white interior-- no way to order such an animal! Anyway... I've been told that there is no opportunity to pick which color you'll drive or even Perf vs regular. They assume almost everybody (at least at first) wants to drive at least the Perf and they're not going to have enough to make that possible. So basically they said you get what you get.

Wrong. That's a Starlight Silver with Sig White interior...and it's available to you.

Event attendees are to receive an email 3-4 days before with more details. So I would start looking for that on Wednesday. It's not far away and, besides, we should have LOTS to talk about tomorrow!

I suppose if you wanted to get picky, you could point out that the white interior isn't available without the matching white parcel shelf. Because the parcel shelf is included with the Signature which is the only way to get a white interior, and there is not parcel shelf shown in the images.

Maybe it is in the frunk.
