Yep, that was my first thought as well. It looks like it uses the LATCH system which means it would be easy to take out if you ever need to carry 3 passengers in the back. I love the built in armrest of that rear unit. It makes the back seat look like the First Class cabin in a 747!
I just finished my test drive and it was incredible. I took many photos and I will post them soon. I drove down to the event from Seattle in an RV with 5 family members. 3 of them were passengers in the Model S. Everyone got to see the factory and the cars. There was a sunset red model s there. sorry for the terse writing since I'm writing this on an iPad in the RV.
The test drive circuit was well planned and had lots of opportunity to push the car thru S curves and straightaways at speeds up to 90 MPH. However, on the public road, you pay for speeding tickets. I took my chances.
This is a much more intimate event that the October factory tour. They had music and drinks and you can hang out as long as like. You can see all the cars in different colors driving by. At the end of your ride, they take a photo of you and you get to email it. You get a print too. I will post another message soon.
Notice the volume goes to 11

Mods: you should probably move this whole thread over to the Get Amped Fremont sticky.
Frick on a stick...lost my entire post by hitting the wrong button.
Ah well. Here I go again
a) arrive about 30 minutes before event. My test time was noon.
b) fill out waiver/liability form about 20 minutes before launch
c) they take you into the next section where they give a run down of the track and give hints on where you can speed on the private road as well as how to take advantage of the test course
d) oh wow! there are the cars! I got the green machine.
e) buckle up and do rough car adjustments and take off to an area 100 meters away where you can do final adjustments to mirrors seats etc
f) take off down the private portion of Kato Road where I got it up to about 80 before I backed off coming up to the turn.
g) I took the sweeping turn at about 50 and it felt very solid and sure
h) Cross Warren onto the public portion of Kato Road where there is a long straight stretch where there is very little traffic. I saw one car.
i) Posted limit is 40mph but I cruised at 45-50 and took some jaunts up to ~80.
j) Also a good area to do some quick lane changes and toss the car back and forth.
k) Turn right onto Milmont where the road is crap to test out the air suspension. Does a good job.
l) Turn right onto Dixon to get onto the freeway. My advice is to make sure you don't turn into a line of cars. If you can wait till it's well open so that when you get onto the freeway you have an open road to test out the handling of the car on the S turns. I was able to push it to the edge on the last turn and could feel a slight loss of traction but still felt very stable and predictable. Very impressed with the handling!
m) Go 2 miles on the freeway which is a good chance to test some passing before exiting onto Warren.
n) Turn left back onto the private Kato road for a last shot at a high speed run. I got it up to 90+ before my handler advised me of the stop sign coming up.
o) Back into the corral for de-boarding
A few things...the acceleration is phenomenal feels very solid though no creep will take a little getting used to. The power is plenty but I am still looking forward to the performance version. It'll be out of this world! Handling is well balanced and sure. I'm going to have fun in this thing.
Oh and there is a sensor to know if the driver is in the seat or not. I tested the auto park feature by purposely not putting it into park when I exited and the car rolled slightly then put itself in park.
Here's the course map to follow along

Y'all won't be disappointed with the performance aspect of your purchase.
Thanks, goyogi -- great to hear feedback.
