    New Westchester, NY Store

Looks like Tesla is opening a store in Westchester, NY and having the 4-sig event there as well next week!

Tesla invites you to celebrate our first North American store opening of 2012 and our first new design store in the Northeast! Our revolutionary retail concept offers a new approach to the car buying experience. From our interactive Design Studio and friendly Product Specialists, to our new "GO Electric" digital experience, Tesla is redefining the future of the automotive industry.
From May 24th to May 27th, Tesla Westchester will showcase all FOUR Model S Signature colors for the first time on the East Coast! Tours and technical demonstrations will be provided throughout the event. Our factory is moments away from rolling out Model S to thousands of reservation holders and we can't wait to share the excitement with you.

This was posted a few weeks ago under the Tesla Stores thread; but now the email from TM has made it official. I did not want to take home delivery of Model S and initially thought picking up at the NYC store would have saved on delivery charges, until learning there is one flat rate regardless of pickup/delivery location. The White Plains location will make store pickup much better.

My wife and I are planning on attending. What I really want to do is test drive the Model S, not just see it Although honestly I have no desire for a Model S (it's a great car - just not a good fit for us) but I have my eye on a AWD Model X...

Will be attending. Not certain which day. The fact they are opening a store in this area indicates there must be a sizable number of reservation holders within a 20-mile radius.

We'll be staying the night in NY for something on Friday, so we'll be going Thursday night

My understanding of the email is that there is an invite-only event on Thursday night (the "exclusive opening event") and then it is open to the public Fri-Sun. So we will be attending Thursday. This will be our first special event.

Very nice! I'll be making the 200 mile road trip on Saturday from Massachusetts to check out the new venue.

Got to talk with George and learned a lot. One woman told me the auto-extend handles were nixed, GeorgeB corrected that they're still perfecting it and they won't be there for launch (along with other things like voice control and the iOS and Android apps -- both of which will launch simultaneously). They've planned a software update for 6/20, another for the end of July, one in August, one in October and one in November (if memory serves correctly).

Also learned that the keyfobs will ONLY come in black (yesss), the GPS will do turn by turn without the tech package but without voice (though no one could explain why I'd need 7 years of Google Maps?), and that Franz is currently still tweaking the S. George said he saw a prototype of the rear seat cupholders but they didnt look right. Those may come down the road, but the center console options definitely will. George called this space the "opportunity space" and said the options they offer will look and be factory installed and not like cheap addons.

I'll probably remember as time goes on, but it as good to see all colors in person (I gave in and am going for the red).

*edit* oh, I got video of the on-screen owners manual. Was pretty haggard, but some nice tidbits in there.
