Although the On Route stations are pre-wired for EV chargers, it seems actually getting one installed is a long process.

I'm eager to get easier Ottawa/Toronto and Montreal/Toronto EV travel going.

Can anyone suggest a good location along the 401, somewhere between Kingston and Belleville, where a business would be willing to host a 70A EVSE? I'm thinking hotels or restaurants near the 401.

These are not between but still ...

How about the 100 Island Casino? Although it might cost you too much to stay for long ...
is the big apple too touristy? i also wouldn't want to be stuck there for too long but they still might be open to it.

what happened to the HPC being setup in a hotel in Kingston?

The are not much close to the 401, before Belleville. I have stayed a couple of times in Picton/Sandbanks, in the last few years, here : Huff Estates Winery, The Inn at Huff Estates, and Oeno Gallery : Prince Edward County, Ontario
They are a class act, with the owner driving from Toronto in his Maserati for the weekends... I am guessing this is not a do or die business ...
It is about 20-30 min from the 401, though. But getting a charger or two installed on the Prince Edward County presqu'ile, might be an easier sell, since there are a lot of
vacationers from Toronto going there for the weekend. It is also a more eco / artsy environnment.

Why not around Kingston : Mayor leads by example with electric car - The Whig Standard - Ontario, CA

Not a bad idea...

The place never took off really, so it's just a huge mostly empty building where they sell apple pies. But it's do-able with a Range mode charge from Ottawa.

I'm going down for the "grand opening" on Monday... but it ended up being 30 amps. GRRRR! They really tried to sell them the bigger unit, but the hotel wanted the smaller one. This makes it a 3 hour stopover instead of 1 hour - quite a big difference.

Very nice, but pretty far from the 401 - there and back.

Yeah, he's bringing his Volt to the big roll-out on Monday. Unfortunately 30A is great for overnight stays, and for Volts and Leafs, but it's tedious for a Roadster road trip, especially at only 208V (commercial three phase source).

I'll see if I can make a pitch for someone to put in 70A.

There's a lot of restaurants on the division st. 401 exit in Kingston... I see Wendy's, KFC, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, A&W, Tim Hortons, Arby's, Harvey's and East Side Mario's. There are many Hotels in the area too.

I see Comfort Inn, Days Inn, Holiday Inn Express and a Courtyard Marriot.

Also there's a Canadian Tire in the area as well.

Hopefully one of them will be willing to install a 70A EVSE.

(I went to Queen's University, but Google street view helped me build a more thorough list of businesses.)
