Mods, should we merge this into the "Model X at Santana Row" thread, which also has this video of mine:

Cool video. I was wondering what kind of shoehorns and vaseline they had been using to get the car in the door...

BTW, what was with all the pushing in the beginning? Didn't the X have enough juice to drive itself?

Hard to tell. At first I thought the car had no reverse because it seemed they were pushing harder in reverse and just sort of tagging along in forward,

When doing the 6" dicker dance to get it in the door (really bad choice of stores with that pole right in front!), they weren't using the motor at all - it's a lot more accurate to push the car a few inches by hand each way to avoid damage. I really don't know how long/well the car goes on its own power.

BTW, note that the interior is a light color and doesn't have all the black that the Model S interiors have.

At the design studio reveal they were driving people around the parking lot in it. Back then it didn't seem lacking in ability to work as a capable / drivable vehicle.
Perhaps it was all about having people in a better position to see the door frame and other obstacles be in control of the motion, not a driver who wasn't in as good a position to see the tight space obstacles?

Bunch of great pics and some video posted by "Eric Cheng" and "Arron Logan" at the following links:

Can't shake this feeling that from this angle it looks like an angry bird...

Let's see which rapper will be first to modify it so it drives with the doors open

...I have no idea why the "suggested youtube videos" are bizarre!

The term "Tesla" in the past had a tendency to bring in among other things, perpetual motion devices, UFO conspiratorial types, and other "out there" schools of thought.

I'm sure TEG can confirm that in 2006 when you Googled Tesla those were all the type of responses you get. Took a coupla years to get the VP2 red car image on the first page.

My Youtube Tesla searches tend to include "-perpetual motion" and such for a while so I don't have to keep seeing all that junk in the search results.

For a while, Flickr searches were loaded up with the Tag Heuer Odyssey world photos. Even if you said "recent pictures" it would still show the old ones. Seemed like they had a future date stamp or something so they stayed at the top of the list for a long time. Oh, and I have seen way more "Tesla the band" fan photos then I ever intended. Doing a bare search on "Tesla" gets you lots of that.

Photos were shot with a Canon DSLR with a 10-22mm super wide angle, and a 55-250mm telephoto lens.

Videos, however, were shot with a "Sony Bloggie" at 720p, which doesn't do a very good job, especially on sound recording in a noisy background environment. Sorry about that!

It sounds to me like you were merely holding the camera in such a way that you were smothering the microphone. You can see that the audio becomes muffled (or restored) as you change your grip on the camera. And when muffled, the clicking sound is the autofocus and/or aperture mechanism -- made very apparent by blocking external sound. So, it's avoidable. You just need to be more careful in how you hold the camera. (Don't blame the innocent ! ;-)
