Can a person get in and out of the front seats with only a little over a foot clearance? I can't imagine they can. Also, I'm not going to intentionally park close to another vehicle knowing that they have conventional doors and are going to hit my car with their door when they go to get in.
Not necessarily. I've had a lot of times where other people have parked too close on the driver's side of my van (Previa). But thanks to the design of the van's interior (flat floor and space between the front seats to walk through from the rear to the front), I was able to gain access to the driver's seat via the sliding door. There will always be (insert preferred expletive) who do not care how close they park next to you as long as they can get in their own driver's side.

I'm just curious on how well this will work in the rain & snow.
Would also like to know how easy this will be to work with the pneumatic shocks disabled.

Wife says it echoes Tesla's "T" logo.

RAV4? I don't even consider them in the same market segment, the RAV better be a lot cheaper.

Sure the RAV4 is nice, my father just bought a new one, but it's not the same market as the ModelX, any more than a BMW would be, plus the range will be much lower.

Model X Falcon Doors will fit ANY garage, if . . .

Anyone can park a Model X in their garage and open the falcon doors if . . . they back it in.

Then you're ready to go (like a firetruck) and you won't do like my wife and side swipe another car in our driveway (even with backup camera).

    Here is my rationale:

Most garage doors are like 7 feet tall. The track for the door is right above it (like 7' 2" off the ground) and when the door is up you don't have the clearance you need for the Falcon Doors. Also most garage doors are like 8 feet wide in which case with the garage door closed you still can't raise the falcon doors because they can spread to 100+ inches wide hitting the rails on either side.

If your garage door is 8 feet tall and 9 or 10 feet wide then you don't have a problem at all.

But since I am like most people with a 7' tall by 8' wide garage door - I thought I was hosed.

Until I realized that the Model X is about 200 inches long and just looking at the picture you can see the Falcon Doors start about halfway back (100" = 8' 4").

So your 7' tall garage door will only extend 7' into your garage and then you've got an extra 18" - 24" or so for the motorized lift part. So if you measure from the garage door the whole apparatus extends only about 9' into the garage.

Assuming you back in and leave 6" of space between the garage door (when it's closed) and the front of the Model X, the Falcon Doors should clear the whole garage door apparatus. If you leave 9" or 12" in the front then you are virtually guaranteed to fit.

My garage is 20' deep (which I think is standard) so I've got 36" to play with front and back as a buffer. And plenty of room to open the rear hatch (which is as high as the Falcon Doors) inside the garage as well.

For most purpose i.e. skis and bikes a hitch attached rack that swung out of the way would work. For Kayaks you are left with either using a different vehicle or a much cooler albeit expensive option:

You are right! Been searching the net now for some time to find out how high an Audi Q7 is with the hatch open, but can't find this info (this since Elon remarked "if you can open the hatch on a Q7 fully in a garage you can open the Falcon doors").

The official pic of the car in Elon's garage on the website does look tight, and isn't his garage and door unusally tall?

So we need o know yhe exact height with doors fully opened. Hope anyone who has the chance to see the car live takes a measurment...

Yeah I think backing will solve the falcon doors in the garage problems. My garage door is 7'2" above the floor, but I have ~8' after the opener.
