    HJR,
Thanks for the leg work. Its good to know that Alpine is working on the upgrade of the KCE-400BT.

I was surfing a bit for a firmware update to the BT unit (still not available), and came across a user report that claims if you have 2 or more phones paired in the unit (instead of just one), then it might "auto-pair" better. I only run the BT audio in "headset" mode, and haven't and any problems with my iPhone4/4S. I've also had good luck with totally clearing the BT devices from the head unit *and* the phone, then starting over for pairing. this seems to stick for me. Hopefully this helps someone else.

    - Volume can't be adjusted for a few seconds after boot up, even though the radio is blasting.
    - Phone address book almost never downloads.
    - Can't initiate calls from the Alpine unit.
    - Bluetooth interferes with the phone cable. You have to unplug and replug just about every time to listen to music from your phone.
    - Volume buttons small and impossible to use while driving without looking or feeling about.

It's a total fail, and neither Tesla nor Alpine seem willing to do anything about it. Should I make a video?
Strange. I don't have any of those software problems. Yes, the volume buttons are small but I find them conveniently located and I also have the remote control which is usually laying on the passenger seat.

I have the same problems as well with the Alpine unit...

I have an ipod that the Alpine fails to recognize quite frequently....The Remote Control does not work properly for all functions. The bluetooth is basically useless when the vehicle is in motion as the microphone is not placed in the proper location. Tesla might as well have included a bluetooth earpiece instead of the current solution. The volume buttons are tough to find when driving, and I frequently fumble around trying to find the up down volume buttons. When placing calls while the vehicle is stationary, the Alpine unit frequently locks up my iphone and does not allow me to drop the phone call.

I have had several problems with my instrument cluster freezing up etc...People are going overboard with Fisker's issues. The Alpine unit is not much more intuitive than the Fisker Command Center, even though the Fisker Command center has 1000 more features than the Alpine unit.

@smoothoperator: I leave an iPod nano permanently connected in the car. Works fine. I use my iPhone 4S via bluetooth and that works fine also. (It was useless until I got the mic moved to just in front of the analog cluster and that works fine now also).
