I see you've created a matching account on Open Vehicle Systems. I'll eMail you directly with details.
The code you will need to extend/change is in PIC18 C. In general, what you will need is:
- A hardware module for the car.
- A bunch of spare parts to make up a cable for the volt, and document the connections used.
- A microchip PICKIT3 programmer (you can get away with a PICKIT 2, but we find the PICKIT3 more useful).
- The microchip MPLAB-X toolchain (free).
- A serial connection to your PC/Mac - most people now using USB-serial converters.
- Unless everything you need is documented, a USB CAN reader will be required. I've just switched to using CANUSB - The Low cost CAN to USB converter and it seems to work well. Speed is limited, but it is very easy to handle in scripts and I have a useful tool I'm working on for reverse-engineering can buses. You could also program a PIC yourself to do this, but it is probably easier to just use the canusb product or something similar.
We'll need to extend the code framework to support a compile-time switch for which CAN module to include, and also extend the Apps with Volt specific artwork. I'll handle that side, but the basic apps should work fine for development - but will make your volt look like a roadster / modelS. Server should need no changes.
When do you get you car?
Regards, Mark.
Sounds like someone has been drumming up interest on the Volt/Ampera mailing lists? David?
Over here CAN bus reading / remote viewing of charge state
There is a lot more info in those threads I posted here last week.
Ok. So i start to setup a toolchain for Pic.
Did it work netter in Mac or pc?
Befor this i am happy with avr.
Hope i get my Volt next 14 days.
