    It is a nice roof and there is a powered shade as well. You can see the leading edge of it peeking out at the back end.

    Can the panoramic roof be cracked open in back, pivoting at the front, without retracting and having the windscreen pop up if you want just a little air flow?

    I was told yes by the tesla rep during my test drive. I couldn't test this since it was raining during my drive. This does make sense since the back has to raise a little before it can slide over the top of the rear glass.

    Yes, I saw it in action in Seattle. It is called the 'vent' mode.

    I've always considered that a "moonroof" but (web search suggests...) I've been using the wrong term apparently.

    The term "moonroof" was coined when the American car makers in the 70s started using glass instead of steel. The idea was that even if it was too cold to open it at night (no sun to let in), you could look up and see the moon. Now they are pretty much all glass.

    Interesting. I always assumed the moonroofs were the ones that didn't open.
