Talked to the auction company today. The frame is bent up too. I figured as much just looking at the trunk lid and how it lines up hard left up by the rear glass. No pics other than what they have posted (none of the underside.) Dismantler/dealer only auction; no private party bids. No auction date set; they say it may even be a few months! I think they're trying to drum up some business by advertising it so early on (on their homepage no less!) R.I.P. 1207!

No, the battery in the 1207 wreck has been disconnected in the car according to the auction company. They said they contacted tesla directly when they received the car, and were advised to disconnect it all together, considering it's condition :(

I talked with Tesla Menlo Park regarding this 1207 car today. Apparently, the car must have been towed there from the accident, as they saw it in this condition and are familiar with it (two months ago.) They said it needs a whole new chassis tub ($27K w/o labor) along with numerous other parts, and everything would have to be transferred over to the new tub. They said they wouldn't even touch it! And they don't even know about the battery pack, electronics, gearbox, motor, etc. Way too much money must be invested to make it road worthy, exceeding it's worth. Hence, the salvage status from the insurance company. I had to check on it because the pics and video didn't look that bad, but any potential bidders be forewarned! What a shame! PASS...... :(

Additional Pictures: Unit is quoted as repairable by the insurance company but was totaled out due to the parts available time line from Tesla

Unit is up for auction on Jan 31st http://www.ranchoautoauction.com/ and has had the main line fuse removed (as directed by Tesla Motors) to preserve the battery. Unit is open available for detailed inspection prior to the auction - just call them 916-321-8886 to schedule an appointment

Wasn't plugged in everytime I have been there....

That being said, I bet thet they top the charge off every now and then.

not to stray too far off topic, but i spoke with a tesla employee who said he recently picked up a one of the first roadsters in napa and the car had never been plugged in (or driven.) battery was (predictably) totally dead.
