Unintended consequences: Max Battery for Max Efficiency?

Yeah, it's that time of year again. Y'know, with those nasty yellow dashes all over the power gage because it is f#*king cold out there.

So as I briefly forgot that regen isn't as effective as it was earlier this year at a upcoming red light, this little thought popped into my head: for a specific profile of driver... in this case, an urban environment with lots of stopping... would it actually be MORE efficient to turn on Max Battery to heat the pack up... so regen works at full capacity (that is, isn't cold-limited)?

There would be an initial hit, yes, but if you stopped and go'd a decent amount, I can't fathom the net loss now (to friction brake heat) would be less than the nearly perfect efficiency heat to get the battery pack to a happier temp for LiON chemistry.

Thoughts, ladies and gents?
