Google offline maps and search (new feature, one day?)

Google Maps gets offline search and navigation

Looks like google is allowing local storage of maps for android devices, and soon iPhone. Maybe we will get downloads and points of interest in 7.1 if this feature can be extended into the tesla nav system?

I think we would all be perfectly fine with automatic bi-weekly refreshing of local data. Especially if it were done at night or while on wifi, and not while we are watching it attempt to download all of the local tiles while trying to figure out where we are going...
