Did you try to read through all the comments that got posted after that article?
I wonder if some of it is "astro-turfing" software at work?
Some of those postings don't seem like real people to me.
Or at least not a lot of real thought - just a bunch of semi-political ramblings.
 
Boy, oh boy. If that doesn't show that continuing the current auto dealer franchise model is the absolute wrong thing to do! Wait until they start forcing people to add in $1500s worth of mandatory 'fuel savings' equipment when buying a Fisker ;-).

Ford and GM have greatly improved their products, but they're completely hamstrung and fully prevented from improving anything post-construction. Sad.
 
By the way, the Nissan Leaf order direct process has bypassed most dealer markup for pre-orders. Mine was MSRP -5% -gov.incentives. Any pre-orders that decide not to get the car end up leaving an "orphaned Leaf" which the dealers will likely sell at well above MSRP for now.
