Supercharger for South Lake Tahoe

I have more of a question on this than anything so I didn't want to put it in the supercharger sub-forum. In any case, for those of you who go to South Lake Tahoe (we go at least once a year), are you surprised there isn't some superchargers there yet? I don't really see any plans for one either on the Tesla website, am I missing something? Our next trip will be after we get our Model S and I'm hesitant to take it because I don't know where I can charge it to come home (SF East Bay)...

Thanks,
Jeff

Since you live in the east Bay you could charge at Manteca. Of course you will need to find a place to stay in South Lake Tahoe that offers overnight charging you will be able to start out your trip back home with plenty of range to get to Manteca, and it's downhill.
My wife and I often go to Yosemite and we have found several places to stay near the park that offer charging.

The route we normally take is I80 to US 50 so we're covered by Folsom going there, and coming back at Vacaville if needed. My concern is the car will sit for a few days so we'll need to top it off somewhere before we leave... The place we stay at is provided by the company I work for and it does not have any EV charging capabilities. So I figured I'd ask.... :)

If they have a garage or underground parking, you might be able to just use a 110V outlet. I have done that once. I used a Kill-a-watt meter and paid them the going rate (very high at the resort) for the electricity I used. You don't need much of a charge to get back to Manteca or Folsom.

Both Harrahs and Harveys have Chargepoints (around 10 in total). Several hotels also have charges available. They show up on Plugshare. I am going up there next week and intend to destination charge at a friendly realtors with an HPWC - failing that its the casinos - the Harrahs ones are in the general parking lot.

Yeah I was looking at the Harvey's on PlugShare as my likely primary source. We always stay at the place formally known as Embassy Suites and while they have parking, it's valet only with no EV charging options and I'm never, ever, ever going to hand my Model S to someone I don't know regardless of the existence of valet mode... Until I can geofence valet mode so that I know, without a doubt, that my car never left the valet parking, I simply won't use it. Yes thats more than a bit of an over zealous opinion and I'll admit that, but I just don't trust valet's...

Any updates or rumors on South Lake Tahoe getting a Supercharger? Another thread mentioned that there may be something coming near the "Y" but that negotiations with the local power company have been going on over a year. I see Teslas around SLT and you would think there is enough tourist traffic (more than north shore I'd think) to make it worthwhile?

It seems like a glaring hole on an otherwise wonderful SC map.

Finally Open. Stateline Supercharger
  • Hard Rock Hotel & Casino 50 US-50. Stateline, NV 89449

For those driving up from the South Bay you can take a shorter charging time in Folsom and charge up when you get to SLT. Also allows people who are already there flexibility to drive around.

Pictures or it didn't happen! :)

Just returned from there yesterday, didn't think to check if one was open yet. Had a 40A charger installed in my house there and electricity is pretty reasonable (by bay area standards) and there isn't an on-peak or off-peak so you can house-charge anytime.

Good to know for the visitors, how many stations did they install?
