New Telsa to the Great NW. Introduction, WTB, and a few questions

I purchase a used 2013 60 kWh from Capt Dave in NY. Had it shipped out and it arrived on Monday. So happy!

I was on the waiting list for a 40 kWh and the 1st non employee to test drive a MS in Seattle but didn't pull the trigger on the mystery battery not swappable no supercharger not sure when we'll produce them MS. I got more car how I would had spec'd it for less money with less that 19000 miles.

Surprises:
-I don't remember it being so powerful during the test drive. Whole family likes to open it up a few times a ride.
-Air suspension height memory is nice for my driveway and a few speed bumps near my work.
-My dryer port in the garage does 24 amps / 16 mph charging with Tesla adapter. Free charging at work at 16 amps.
-Real time traffic is nice, saving us some time on the commute already as we have 3 routes to choose from.
-I measured and taped off where the edge would be in my 1 car garage... and it fits with some room to spare.

The only thing I would prefer to have had from the tech package is memory seats/mirrors. Was hoping that was just a software retrofit but my MS has the 8 way cloth (prefer cloth) not the 12 way.
No other issues found yet.

First challenge is getting it registered. Use tax is based on Retail Fair Mkt Value so I'm trying to get Tesla to appraise what they'd resell it for in writing. DOL has RFMV avg way to high. I'm running on 3 day use passes till I get it sorted.

I do need to eventually get it in for new rear seat door hinges (open wider), some window trim decay and new trunk cargo pit cover (old cardboard/carpet one) but none are urgent.

Also looking for advice on which Seattle area service center is preferred? Both SODO and Bellevue are equal distance from home.

Lastly, if anyone is selling (or looking to barter for tech) their rear facing seats anytime soon, let's keep it local so PM me.

Whichever is more convenient. I've used both. I started out using Bellevue and then changed to a job that was a few blocks from Seattle and started servicing there. The Bellevue one is still in a kinda of poor spot (next to an abandoned house). But I hear they are moving. Seattle is also in a somewhat poor spot as far as parking around it. But I don't think either of these factors would make me pick one or the other. If it doesn't matter you might want to see which one can meet your schedule best. They both get rather busy and it can be hard to get an appointment sometimes.

I'm pretty sure you can't retrofit the rear facing jump seats, since those had to be built with an extra reinforcement in the bumper from the factory, which I don't think they did if the car wasn't built with those seats included. You should check with a service center to make sure.

Most the threads I read here state they shipped all/most early VINs with the extra bumper up to around 5800. Mine is P04001 but I'll certainly ask when I take in for the first issue or service.

Welcome to the family, and Congratulations!

I have used both service centers. I would use either, though I prefer to use SoDo for same reason as Breser: walking distance to office. Bellevue also had gravel section of road which was awful. Additionally, some of the Seattle techs have more experience with high power battery packs and Roadsters.

As far as FMV goes, get your seller to print a statement of what they sold it to you for. I've done this both ways. Once the other person has been with me and the FMV clerk asks questions of them, second was via letter/affidavit iirc. Go to smaller center and ask. I wouldn't go to crossroads.

Check the sales section on here, and post a wtb ad. This is how I bought my winter wheels

Finally, might be worth getting a professional detail (clay bar and the like) if there's not already paint protectant on the car (eg opticoat). PacNW water spots appear to be less bad with it.

I cannot comment on the folks at Bellevue, but the folks at the SoDo shop are extremely friendly and attentive. I had to reboot my screens a few times on my homeward journey yesterday from Twin Falls (various issues....no reverse cam, no nav % estimation, etc). While charging at Ellensburg, the Seattle SC folks called ME to make sure I was OK and was able to make it home. I expect any SC would have done the same, but I could hear the concern in my specialist's voice. What other car company acts like that?

Wait. Did you initiate contact or did they notice you'd been doing multiple resets and called to make sure you were OK?

I bought from a private seller and did a bill of sale. It doesn't matter what you bought if for, the state will determine Retail Fair Market Value if not bought from a dealership. RFMV was $14K more than I paid so ~$1400 more 'use' tax. No biggie but I guess years of fudged bills of sale enforced the law change at some point.

Anyone know if there is a cure for permagrin? :biggrin:

In some ways this is good. Now when I make private sales I won't have them asking me to fudge the bill of sale.

Btw - I've never asked for a lower, nor fudged, a bill of sale and never provided one. Indeed, I always bring proof of sale price, eg bank draft receipt. However, i prefer to buy at wholesale, not retail FMV prices, and DMV rates at retail otherwise it's not worth buying when selling on.. Just saying.

I've been to both service centers and LOVE the Bellevue SC! (The abandoned house next to it is actually a front for a repossession company. They're good guys) anyhow they're building a new SC in crossroads that's supposed to open in April next year.

I ended up going to the SODO SC. Top Notch!
My main screen always had some adhesive that had seeped in and dried on the right side so they replaced it along with the new trunk floor cover and 12V jump post. Fix the black goo smear when opening the Pano and new FOB battery. Firmware update too.
They gave me a P85+ loaner but the roads were ponds for the 24 hours I had it.
First thing I noticed is the 21"ers are much noisier than my 19"ers. I much prefer my 19s.
