At the Tesla meeting today we rounded up our various connectors to show Tesla that we really want the IEC 62196-2-2 (Type 2) -> Tesla cable.

Here's a picture we took:

Here you also see the difference between the new and the old UMC.

This picture could be useful for Tesla owner, this should be everything you would ever encounter in NL/BE (And I guess DE as well?)

Yes, sure!

I'll start on the top-left corner and zigzag down over the picture.

1. A 16A spare connector, plugs into a regular household socket of 16A
2. The old UMC (MC240) for Europe, fitted with a 3-phase 32A plug, where it draws power from L1 (phase one)
3. IEC62196-2-2 (Type 2) -> Tesla connector, used for Mode 3 charging station. This cable is right now limited to 16A (test phase)
4. The new UMC which has to be connected to the blue connector you see. The blue connector is nothing special, it's just a 32A single-phase connector
5. A three-phase (Red) -> one-phase 32A connector (Blue), it simply connects L1 in both connectors
6. Same as #5, but just a 16A connector
7. A 16A connector (Blue) to a regular household outlet, limited to 16A. Found a lot on outdoor locations (camping sites for example), here you plug in the spare 16A connector
8. Don't know for sure, but I think a regular 16A plug to a 16A-three phase socket. Same here, only one phase is connected
9. A 32A three-phase extension cord
10. A 16A three-phase extension cord

About the IEC62196-2-2 cable, this is a prototype. He took his mobile 16A charger apart en took the connector of it and simply connected it to a cable he ordered from Mennekes.

At the time he made it (A few weeks ago) Mennekes was out of stock with 32A cables, so he used a 16A cable instead. It works right now, but removing and fitting the connector was a hell of a job (Takes a few hours).

32A is the max possible at the moment since Mennekes isn't manufacturing the 63A connectors and cables yet.

We showed this cable to the Tesla staff at the event and urged them to deliver such a cable or deliver spare connectors so we can make this cables ourselfs.
