Seriously, no one even commenting on the suction roof rack guaranteed to 140 mph? The rain proof-ness of FWD? Rubber lining in FWD storage pockets? Maybe there's another thread I'm missing. Otherwise, this feels like the kind of thing we usually freak out about just a little. I'm deflated and confused by the lack of chatter!

In another thread, someone mentioned Seasucker mounts but I don't think the discussion went anywhere.

Yeah, well, I'm just a bit annoyed that the Model X "reveal" didn't include these kinds of details. Is there even a Tesla product management person, let alone a department? For the reveal, there should have been available, at the very least internally, a very detailed sheet that lists all the little details about the car. Storage pockets, frunk dimension, number and location of USB charge ports, cup holder locations, second row seat ventilation, etc. I mean, I just talked to Tesla sales in their HQ yesterday to an actual Model X specialist and he couldn't answer a few questions I had. VERY LAME.

Just putting this out there...had Elon discussed the many additional things some people wanted to hear about, you'd all still be at the party. Elon chose to discuss the bigger features on the vehicle (or the features he thought were most important). There were 2k+ people at the event all being given the opportunity to go for a ride. We have confirmation from Mark Z that he was there until at least midnight getting his ride, looking at Elon's car up close and chatting.

I also suspect that Elon didn't expect people to be asking such questions as, 'what happens when two X's park too close to each other......' The answer is obvious to him and it's not like he didn't demo on stage what happens with the doors in that instance. Somehow some people think it's different because the vehicle beside is another X? This is not going to occur to Elon. He doesn't think like most people. He makes leaps of logic and reason.

Which brings me to your next point of having a detailed list of 'all the little details'. That's very old school, dealership methodology. What do I get for 100k? Oh, I get 6 door pockets, a 12x12 center console with hidden cubby, 2 color coordinated fuzzy dice, yadda, yadda, yadda. That's not me saying you shouldn't want to know and have the information. That's me reminding you this isn't your Daddy's car manufacturer. Yes, I know lots of people want Tesla to do things a certain way, a way those people are used to, a way those people think it should be done. I'm reminding you, ain't gonna happen.

Is it lame you can't get answers to your questions from your Model X specialist? Sure. And their job is to go find those answers for you, even if they have to walk out to the factory floor and look for themselves. We do know that until very recently, only a handful of people at Tesla had seen an X. As time goes on now, that will change.

Did you even read what I actually wrote? I said Tesla needed (needs) an internal one sheet document with all these details listed on it. That's one of the core functions of a product management person or group (the other is working with design and engineering and marketing to come up with a feature set, but that's so obviously lacking, I didn't even bring that up). I didn't say Elon needed to tell us these things. I didn't even say the details should be on the website. But sales people inside the company should have access to this information.

Somewhere (in this forum?) I saw a comment about a surfboard being on top of an X - in the press reveal or backstage or something, but then when it was on the stage they had decided not to go with that. The surfboard did appear on the side of the Airstream that was towed on stage, with a suction cup type of mount holding it on. So I assume they just decided at the last minute to move the mount that had been used on the X over to the Airstream and not discuss the top mount one-door opening solution. It is a bit awkward perhaps so I think that was a good decision to exclude it at this kind of event.

I'm pretty sure that Tesla's website has disk space and bandwidth for a few more megabytes of information and pictures. The cost of adding, say, 10 megabytes of information to their website shouldn't cause too much of a hit to their opex or capex. What has been released thus far is pretty sparse and as a result, this situation frustrates their customers and their own staff.

It certainly seems like this information is being withheld by design rather than accident. The only credible hypotheses I've seen are a) not wanting to cut into MS sales, and b) they haven't finalized a lot of these details for the MX, and c) their marcomm people are incompetent.

(My vote is some combo of #1 and #2...)

He's definitely at least 6'2" and probably closer to 6'3". I had my picture taken with him a few years ago and he's slightly taller than I am.

Pic or it's not true.

;) (But I'd really love to see the pic. :D )

100% with you. I threw my comments into the article (what I do for a living), but was expecting to see a lot more enthusiasm and discussion here about the various matters. A *lot* of cool new info. :D

Not a surprise. The new information doesn't fit the end of the world dialogue about needing to putting wet skies in the back, getting rained on with the doors open etc., etc.,

Haha, too. freakin'. true.

No disagreements there! Definitely disappointed we didn't get more info then.

I did read your post. I quote: Yeah, well I'm just a bit annoyed that the Model X 'reveal' didn't include these kinds of details.

Now, the following sentence is a mix of pov, so forgive me addressing reveal and internal separately. I quote: For the reveal, there should have been available, at the very least internally, a very detailed sheet that lists....

Technically, your Model X specialist is NOT a 'sales person'. No, I'm not saying they shouldn't have the information. Whatever information your specialist doesn't have at hand for you currently, it's their job to go find out (from their manager, or the factory floor, or whatever). Would their lives be simpler, and could they help you and other reservationists better if there was an internal memo/e-mail/document available? For sure.

Elon's comment about FWD's on one of two future models - being the 3 and the Y.

Well, I haven't read everything on TMC, but missed any mention of a model Y. If it hasn't been determined what the Y is, I would guess an updated version of the Roadster. FWD's on a lower price model makes no sense (to keep costs down), also, a possible pickup truck would look silly with FWD's. So that makes my guess - the Y....... (50/50 chance).

The Y was first mentioned back when they were first talking about the Model 3 (after having to change it from Model E). I believe it is supposed to be a smaller version of the X. They applied for the Y trademark over 2 years ago. http://my.teslamotors.com/de_AT/forum/forums/maybe-no-model-e-look-model-y-trademark-application

I guess they could say they didnt know what kinds of questions people were going ask... But from the mules and other such info it sure seems like there is plenty enough different (vented seats, new head lights, details about the doors, etc...) that they could have had a basic "This is new/different from our current product" list.

I have to say it is quite surprising for a company to ask people to pay ANY amount for a product almost sigh unseen... much less the massively premium price of the X. I hope it doesnt blow up in there face
