How Americans Charge Their Electric Vehicles

It would be interesting to see how Tesla owners would compare to the Leaf and Volt drivers included in the study. I suspect the 'away from home' charging habits would be different, given that the Tesla actually can GO away from home!

What it doesn't say is how many miles are trips (probably none for Leaf, but Volt should have some, even if it's a hybrid rather than an EV and so really shouldn't be in that comparison).

The only time my Model S has been charged away from home is during trips. Trips account for very close to half the miles I've put on so far (57K).
