I finally ordered my Model S!

I'll keep it brief but my wife and I finally bit the bullet and put the deposit down today and ordered or Model S 90D. I'm about as excited as you can get and it's gonna take forever to get to "Late November" which I'm sure is no surprise to anyone, ever... :)

The Walnut Creek store is just awesome, so is my owner advisor.

I know I said, a lot actually, that I was gonna wait for the Model X but at the end of the day I just couldn't... The urge to buy was simply to strong, and besides, I have to take delivery this year anyhow so the things in the Model X (ventilated seats) that have caught my attention aren't likely going to get to the Model S this year anyhow...

I'm so super excited... :D

Thanks,
Jeff

I was in the same situation earlier this year. I was thinking Model X, but it was going to be another year before it's available after putting a deposit down then. I ended up ordering a Model S, also at the Walnut Creek store! (Can't wait to see how big of a space they'll be in when they move.)

Congrats on the purchase!

FWIW, I just noticed today when my order confirmed that my delivery estimate went from "Late November" to "November - Early December"... Not sure what that means...

Also, now that my order has confirmed, is there any communication I should expect from Tesla?

Thanks,
Jeff

It's just an estimate. It'll move around the calendar some as your car gets closer to production and then delivery. Since you're in the Bay Area I presume you're doing a factory pick-up...that eliminates a delay and a source of uncertainty in timing, since they don't have to ship the car to you.

You'll probably get various emails about trade-in, home charging, and other such topics. At some point you should get an email introducing you to your Delivery Experience Specialist (DES). The difference between this person and the Owner Advisor (OA) was never made quite clear to me. On a couple of occasions I invented a couple questions just so I had an excuse for sending an email to my DES and then asking "oh by the way how're things looking in terms of a delivery date?" :)

Well I now have a VIN... :) I'm not quite sure how this process is expected to go and I didn't see anything in the Wiki for reference. :) I presume now that I have a VIN my car is definitely in the manufacturing queue and at some point the status will update from in the queue to something else... :)

I now know this. It will update to this and you will get a big smile on your face!

But the next update is the BILL! That took a little fun out of it to see all those taxes in there. CA really gets you in that you can't deduct your trade from the cost of the car and only pay tax on the difference. I only hope those taxes are being used for good and not evil!
