Looks like I'm going to have to retrofit the automatic closing charge door. Can it be done?

I think I know who is working on this. The following video is a lecture at Stanford Unv by Senior Mechanical Engineer Dave Duff from Tesla, recorded in Nov 2012. Another reason to have thinner Supercharger cables.

This is so freaking awesome!! How much to install this at home?

Maybe in the future, your Tesla could back itself out of your garage, drive autonomosly down to the nearest Supercharger, fill itself up, and return to your home...all while you sleep.

Perfect for 3 things.

1) Self Driving Cars
2) Automatically "ejecting" the charging cable once the vehicle is fully charged.
3) Notifying an owner that their vehicle is fully charged, and reminding them to either "summon it" or pick it up. Also, Tesla could impose a fee for people who forget or choose to park their Tesla for more than 1-2 hours.

Looks like something appropriate for the superchargers. A little bit of overkill for my garage.
