Here's the checklist I created when I took delivery. Your list may vary.
Before delivery:
· Prepare list of favorite AM/FM/XM radio stations from old car
· Shop around for best insurance quotes (I found a factor of 3 difference between insurance companies)
· Install 50A plug in garage
· Acquire Flying Spaghetti Monster sticker
· Get EZPass transponder (or one for your favorite toll road)
· Get private parking stickers for work/condo/club, whatever
During Delivery
· Bond iPod (fail: not recognized by car. Transferred music to 256GB thumb drive which car could deal with)
· Install radar detector (partial fail: metallized windshield prevents Escort from acquiring GPS signal)
· Learn how to use voice commands (work in progress, still can't say "navigate to Joe Smith at work", use "call Joe Smith" instead)
· Create personalized driver settings for each driver
· Be sure to set mirrors both going forward and going in reverse, so mirror tilt function works correctly
· Bluetooth bond phone and transfer contacts
· Turn on Controls->Displays->Energy-Saving
· Transfer favorite AM/FM/XM radio stations (note that only the first six are visible in the Media frame; choose wisely)
· Settings->Maps->Magnification on (I think this whole setting has been deleted)
· Get Tesla remote App for phone; turn on Settings->Safety->Remote-Access
· Buy tire-repair kit (since there's no spare)
· Buy chains (since winter is coming)
· Affix Flying Spaghetti Monster emblem (
http://www.amazon.com/Spaghetti-creation-pastaness-appendage-available/dp/B00884P91K)
· Think of a name for car; go to "T" menu and set it up
· Attach EZPass transponder (note: if you don't know the secret place on the windshield to attach it, go here:
Coated windshield impacting door openers and EZpass [Archive] - Tesla Motors Club - Enthusiasts & Owners Forum)
· Call Sirius/XM and activate account (855-697-3773)
· Attach private parking stickers to windshield
After delivery
· Bond HomeLink to garage door
· Get storage bin for console (plastic bin from Container Store until I can find an aftermarket one that I like)
· Log car into home WiFi
· Transfer customized license plates from old car (or order snazzy new ones)
· Get 50ft 15A extension cord so I can charge from people's houses when on the road (Also consider NEMA 15-50 extension cord for RV parks and running to people's dryer outlets)
· Call EZPass with new license plate number after those are attached
