When it comes to the share of residents who drive electric cars, Orange County edges out its neighbor to the north.
According to the Center for Sustainable Energy, 3.41 Orange County drivers out of every 1,000 own a plug-in vehicle, compared to 2.38 per 1,000 in Los Angeles County.
Since 2010, the state's Clean Vehicle Rebate Project has issued rebates worth $26 million in Orange County, and of that, $5.5 million went to Tesla owners.
