Our 85D is about 6 weeks old (the actuality of owning a Tesla is even better than the dream!). Our routine normally results in the car returning to the garage late afternoon/early evening and plugging in for the night. On occasion, when I take the dog out to the dog run later in the evening the front dash is lit up reflecting the current charge status despite the fact that the car had been fully charged for hours. The key fob is left in the house (so I'm not waking up the car) and we do not check the charge status with the mobile app in the evening. Seems like this dash illumination is unnecessary? Is this normal and is there a way to "turn it off" to reduce power drain and wear and tear on the dash? THANKS!!!

First, reboot the display and see if the behaviour changes (press and hold the two scroll wheels until the display blanks). Then see if it happens again. The dash shouldn't be illuminating.

Also check the energy saving settings in the controls->display section.

Was there any chance there was a door ajar?
