During tomorrow evening (2015 JUN 30), the two brightest planets Venus and Jupiter will appear separated in the western sky by only 20 arcminutes (two-thirds the diameter of a Full Moon). That’s the tightest this year, although when they move into the morning eastern sky they will conjunct again but with 1° separation on 2015 OCT 25. A really close angular separation will occur next year when they are again in the evening western sky and appear separated by only 4 arcminutes on 2016 AUG 27.

My June astronomical calendar previews tomorrow’s close separation of Venus and Jupiter. Meanwhile, my July calendar is now available featuring the trio of Venus, Jupiter and Regulus when Venus will be at its brightest for the current evening apparition: www.CurtRenz.com/calendar.html

Great heads-up - that will be the final time we'll be able to drag out the telescope until November. Make sure you remind us about the 4 arc minute conversion next August!

Dragging out both approx 5in, first inherited from Grandad, the spotter scope apparently needed four sectors, so he inlaid two of his hairs to make the quadrants, very handy Grandpa, thanks! Second, computer controlled thingy, very handy as well! Thanks Curt for the heads up. Just loving our universe here!
