The August, 2015 AUTOMOBILE magazine has two articles of interest for Tesla enthusiasts....

Titled SHOCK JOCKS, an article on Tuned Teslas features Saleen's GTX Model S and the P85D. The article is very favorable and fair IMHO.

Some great quotes.... "A car as great as the P85D deserves better than simple dreary commuter duty on the Santa Monica Freeway."

"The Saleen's enhanced acceleration with a 11.39:1 ratio for final-drive that features straight-cut gear, which happen to emit a whine that reminds you of a spacecraft from "The Jetsons"."

"you notice, As a Tesla driver, you're part of a community of pioneers. During recharges, they all have a story to share about the car - how much they like it, how far they've driven. This enthusiasm bubbled over at the sight of the (Saleen) GTX."

"You are involved, Like a private pilot, you plan ahead - how far are you going.. where are the recharging stops, what are your reserves and the alternates? Thanks to the abundance of Tesla Superchargers - and the ease of finding them using the software built into the NAV, trip planning is effortless and even fun."

"With these cars, you're immersed in the driving experience. Isn't that the very definition of "enthusiast"? "

The second article of note and somewhat slightly Tesla oriented is about Autonomous Driving.... "Near, But So Far Away" by Preston Lerner.

This article quotes Elon Musk and also Steve Shladover (UC Berkeley) and tries to convey the nits that programmers are and will have with the technology....

"If auto manufacturers want to play in this field, they're going to be responsible for everything that happens on autopilot."

I am sure every corporate lawyer in the auto industry has lost sleep over that quote....

The article is well worth your attention....
