Well - it certainly doesn't make me happy.........but the boys at Tesla are already figuring out a way for me to get this fixed right. As usual the service end of Tesla goes all out to help me in a bind.......THANKS TESLA SERVICE!!!!

here's what she looks like now.....

by the way - a bystander tried to stop the guy who hit my car and got his license plate.....

let's all now take a moment of silence for roadster #938.....hehe

Holy crap, he did a LOT of damage. That's the door, rear fender and trunk, right? Is it going to have to go back to California?

Good on that bystander, I hope the police can track him down and charge him with leaving the scene etc.

Ya your right on the spots hit.

I have to wait for an insurance adjuster to come out (now I have to try to explain what carbon-fiber is and how a local body shop is not qualified to do this repair....that should be a fun conversation.....) - but I think as of now the plan is to ship the car to Tesla for repair (Seattle) - which is the closest location for me.

That is going to be an expensive repair. I never understand sideswipes unless the driver is drunk. You have to be a really poor driver to do that by accident.

That's three cracked CF body panels. The worst is this one since it's one large piece that connects all along the left edge of the Al frame:

Rotten luck Kev!...wrong place at the wrong time...:frown:

Glad the witness took down the license plate number of the offender...hope it wasn't a stolen vehicle...(being in the insurance business, I support the death penalty for hit & run drivers !:frown::wink:)

If you have any problems with your adjuster, please let me know...depending on the circumstances, I might be able to help explain things to him / her.

Thanks guys. It sucks...

Part good news - cops got the kid that did it (from license plate) and gave him a couple charges......and now I hopefully won't have to pay for the repairs....(his insurance not mine)

Note:the truck that hit me was worth about half the price of a hardtop :(

Will update the when, the how and the cost to get this all back as it was...... I expect in the months but we will see....

Nothing bugs my ass more that gutless people who bugger off after hitting someone's car...should be mandatory 20 lashes followed up with 100,000 hours of community service work + full restitution of physical damages to the vehicle + a monetary award for you considering your "loss of enjoyment" of the vehicle whilst off the road for repairs.:biggrin:

Sorry for the rant, but these types of accidents happen far too often! :frown:

I am so happy that they actually got the guy, are you kidding me!? Honestly I didn't think the police would be able to track him down. Nice work they did. I'm so glad your Roadster will be restored to the normal condition! :)
