1-2 Weeks in Production

So my S85D went into production on Friday May 8th. From everything I read on TMC and on the spreadsheet says 3-5 days in production. My DS said it takes 1-2 weeks, is this an over estimate from Tesla? How long was your car in production and if picking up in Fremont how long after production does it take to accept delivery? I still don't have my Final MVPA after several requests for it.

Interesting that it went in on a Friday. So did mine. I changed to 'in transit' on a Friday too. I suspect the site updates status on a weekly basis, but have no way to confirm.

For what it's worth, my 85D has been 'in transit' for almost two weeks. And apparently hasn't left the parking lot in Fremont, according to my assigned 'Delivery Experience Specialist'. So far my 'experience' has been a little frustrating to say the least.

I drive by the factory every day to work and every day I see a lot of Tesla's with dealer stickers driving from one side of the factory to the other and one parking lot is filled with them. Yours is probably there. I'm sorry you're frustrated I am too but it's way better than dealing with a dealer. Most of my frustration comes from me being impatient though. I k ow once I receive my 85D all that will go out the window. But I want my car now!! lol

I'm told they're waiting to collect enough cars destined for my part of the continent to fully fill a transport truck... but who knows. Like you, I want it NOW too! I had understood a date range that has slipped apparently. Not much choice but to wait... but perhaps you could give my car a friendly wave the next time you drive by!

I'm still waiting for delivery as well, the car is in transit. In my experience, the car's status has changed on different days, including more than once during a single week, so I don't think the site only updates on a weekly basis.

As for Tesla being better than a dealer, when I bought a new, custom ordered BMW X5 last month, I was able to monitor the production status online, and the car took exactly 14 days from the day I placed the order until it arrived at the dealership. So while I think the Tesla experience is good, I wouldn't say it's necessarily better than others.

My car (also an S85D) went into production on a Friday and finished the following Wednesday. That's three working days (the factory doesn't produce on weekends, at least it didn't on my delivery day, which was a Saturday). That being said, there might be some reasons why it takes one car longer to produce than another, such as availability of components. My final MVPA showed up on MyTesla the day after production finished, but I am not sure if there's a causal relationship between those two events.

I picked up my car in Fremont (earlier this month). I had a few constraints on when I could take delivery...my DES and I tried to set it up for the Saturday after production finished but we couldn't make my schedule line up with availability of delivery people, so we settled for a week after that. It seemed to me that you could do a factory delivery fairly soon after production finishes, but that's just a guess.

As of today my car is still in production. I did receive my Final MVPA today however they misspelled my name. Not sure how that happened seeing as my name is on the original order and deposit. So now I'm waiting to hear back from my DS to correct that. I was hoping to accept delivery this Saturday but next week is looking more likely.

Apparently the truck carrying my car is rolling now... expected to cross the border on Friday. Nothing happens on a weekend and we have a stat holiday on Monday. Add a day to PDI the car and... "how does next Wednesday or Thursday sound?" Well, not as good as this weekend, but I suppose it will have to do...

Surprising as i expected yours to be on the same delivery truck as mine, given my delay. Your car exited production before mine went on the truck, yet i picked mine up last night. Maybe there is some complex algorithm/logic or Tesla's delivery isn't very organized.

Yeah, I get the distinct feeling something odd has been going on. Given the numbers coming off the production line, I have a hard time swallowing the idea that it took 2 weeks to fill the truck (or longer, if I wasn't the first one with a ticket for the next bus). I just hope there wasn't an issue (like it got dinged in the waiting-for-a-truck lot and needed repairs). I will be more critical of the fit and finish at delivery, believe me. If there's any sign of repaired damage I'll go ballistic.
