Initially I watched that on mute, and wondered why they let their kid burn to death in the back seat. Then I turned audio on and discovered the person was 50, and was still wondering why they didn't make an effort to make sure everyone got out safely.

The safety impact of VEHICLE RELATED ROAD DEBRIS

This study was released in 2004 before Teslas and EVs in general were on the roads in any meaningful numbers so the statistics apply to ICE vehicles.

If the Vehicle Related Road Debris (VRRD) crash rates of 0.2 percent for fatal crashes and 0.4 percent for all other crashes are applied to North American crash statistics for 2001,VRRD can be estimated to cause over 25,000 crashes per year, claiming 81 to 90 lives.
