    Happy B'day C-T!

On that note, wondering if the SEC might be tempted to open an investigation into this?! Could someone (who must have been aware of the non-serious nature of the exec departure) have wantonly leaked the news to Bloomberg before market close on Friday just to pickup TSLA on the cheap knowing that it'd bounce back come Tuesday?! </conspiracy-theory>

Then how are we supposed to pick up more cheap shares? You're probably right that this type of thing won't happen again but when you have a company with what you feel is a good product, good management, good execution, and a good plan, irrational dips are a gift and should be welcomed.

Given that only half the shares are public and half of those are being shorted, this is gonna be one volatile stock!

Very true, though we could all do without stuff like this:

I count on investors like that to panic and dump perfectly good shares. Plus it's entertaining

Yes, TSLA shareholders need to be ready for all kinds of price swings. I think we need to remember that most of the US has not been to a Tesla Store, nor seen a Tesla close up in person. Factor in the FUD supplied by those wishing to preserve the status quo, as well as FUD supplied by some proponents of alternate technologies (this was a surprise to me - *), and it's not a surprise that so many are skittish. But, that's an advantage to us who know about the solid technology, the good business plan, and even what the factory looks like. We can remain calm and pick up shares when others are fearful. Just remember to have an appropriate holding term and investing percentage allocation. The market can remain irrational for longer than you can hold out on buying that new EV you're dreaming of.

    * - I was quite surprised to see Natural Gas proponents on an investment board I frequent knocking EVs and Tesla in particular, as if killing EVs would help CNG win over ICE. Kind of like John Petersen knocking EVs in his efforts promote the start-stop battery company in which invested a million bucks (probably worth about $400K now).

I've seen quite a bit of that, EV's seem to threaten not only the established auto and petroleum industries but many of the newer alternatives. (NG proponents insist on using NG in inefficient ICE's, wasting large amounts of a limited fossil fuel, instead of using it in more efficient generating plants.) Many people see an opportunity for alternatives to ICE vehicles, if EV's catch on then whatever they are pushing has less of a chance of succeeding.

Sorry about the tirade the other day. Was really stressed from other stuff completely unrelated to Tesla, and this just really pushed me over the edge. In hindsight, I definitely overreacted. Let's just say I have quite a bit of my portfolio in TSLA, have a very overweight position, and a 20% drop that stuck would seriously impact my ability to buy the Model S. I'm risking quite a bit (60%) on the performance of this company, since I honestly believe it has 500-1000% upside long term. I am expecting TSLA to reach 200+ within 3 years, which will provide me with more than enough to buy the reboot of the Roadster, and possibly a new house

Inversely, a 20% drop nearly devastated my portfolio. I'm expecting a big jump after the February announcement. Also, any announcement related to deals with other companies should cause 10-15% spikes. The news report I read gave me the impression the execs had simply jumped ship, with hints at problems with the Model S, or structural problems with the company. The media did a terrible job in accurately reporting this leak. Bias reporting if I have ever seen it.
