EV Charging at gas station in Belgium

As far as I know the first charging station integrated in a gas station.

In providing a universal and complete EV charging spot, Schneider Electric answered to Total Belgium requirements with the opportunity to choose between a normal recharge and a fast recharge. These options meet specifications of every EV type : Schneider Electric’s charging spot offers an electric charge of the vehicle by AC current (16 A, 32 A, 63 A) as well as DC current (up to 125 A).

It looks like they have a typical "3 grade choice" selector there (?)
I wonder what you get for "premium" electrons.... More spin?

Hmm... Maybe someone would do something like:
50kW - $1.00/kW
19kW - $0.50/kW
6kW - $0.33/kW

Consumers like 3 choices. A charge rate to cost trade-off? On the other hand, the "pump" will be in use longer at slow rates, so maybe they should charge _more_ for slow charge.

Seriously though, does someone have a better picture showing what all the buttons do?

Summary of this source plus some other sources:

There are 12 locations to be installed by end November 2010 (8 around Brussels, 3 Antwerp aka Anvers, 1 Namur aka Namen).

See http://www.imustbe.be/mmm/jq/files/48740/48740__20101012090151__total_belgium_plug_to_drive_aper_u_implantations.pdf for details.

Total is Market leader in selling petroleum fuels in Belgium.

They chose to specify a highly "polyvalent" charger able to supply any of AC 16A, 32A, 63A and DC 125A. This is because EV vendors need to "study the batteries some more" and "observe user behaviours".

Charging costs €4 per hour for slow charge, per 20 minutes for medium fast and per 10 minutes for fast charge. You can pay by pre-paid card or at the cash desk of the service station.

I am visiting Ypres (aka Ieper) for Armistice Day (11 November). I evaluated going with the Tesla Roadster by driving from home to Newcastle, England, then Ferry to Amsterdam, Netherlands, then drive to Ypres, Belgium.

Newcastle is now full of charging points thanks to Plugged in Places. Some will even be "fast" soon, I am told.

I think I could negotiate to charge on the ferry (overnight) as there will be plenty of power on the truck deck.

Amsterdam has many charging points.

But until now I couldn't find any useful charging in Belgium.

It's over 300km from Amsterdam Ijmuiden ferry terminal to Ypres, so too far for the Tesla in one hop.

This news changes that. Charging at Antwerp is about midway.

Unfortunately too late for this trip (flight & car hire already booked) but there will be a next time.

We really need that open and rapidly updated charger map to keep track of all this. Kevin - how soon will we be able to start to submit data?

Hi TEG thanks for the pictures. Do you have a source link? Do you know which station that is?

Source link for latest pictures:

I think the station in the photo is:
Total Ruisbroek
E19 Parijs-Brussel
1601 Ruisbroek

From the brickwork around the charge station it looks to be the same location they showed in the earlier press release photos.
