It's great living in Sarasota, Florida!!

Twelve years ago my wife and I retired from the hustle and bustle of living in the Washington DC area and settled in Sunny Sarasota. We have never been happier. Apparently a recent Gallup poll agrees with us.

Sarasota-Bradenton-North Port ranks No. 1 in 'well-being' nationwide

The North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton area ranked as the best place in the country for overall well-being in 2014, even ahead of Honolulu, a recent survey found.

The region earned top marks for physical, social and financial well-being in a survey conducted by the Gallup polling company and Healthways, a research firm specializing in health data analysis.

In the Southwest Florida area, Sarasota County had the highest percentage of residents who self-identified as binge drinkers, meaning they had five drinks on a single occasion in the last 30 days for a man, or four drinks in the same scenario for a woman.
