A job posting within the last 30 days for a part-time Product Specialist appears to indicate a new store will be opening at another Simon property, the St. Johns Town Center. No word on superchargers, but Simon has a link to EV charging stations at all its properties, with a separate column for Tesla.

If this has been noted elsewhere, please delete.

Does this replace the gray dot indicating a downtown Jax location on the TM "Find Us" map? I would hope so as St. John's is easier to get to and access than downtown.

Hi Archie,

The only "gray dot" that I see is the "coming soon" Jacksonville service center and we can't infer from that dot that it will be in downtown Jacksonville.

Bill's (TI Sailor) lead from the careers page regarding the Store at St. Johns Town Center is a good one, but it's not a done deal.

There have been other store locations listed on the career page, such as the Mall at Millenia, that have been there for years without the store being opened.

I wonder what the chances will be they also add a supercharger station there.

Hi Dan,

I guess that would depend on where the Sales and Service Center is ultimately located. In general service centers are located in commercial/industrial centers where amenities are scarce so that would make them less than ideal for locating a full sized Supercharger Station suitable for supporting many traveling Tesla owners. (I should add that I believe that eventually many service centers will have what I call mini-Superchargers where a single Supercharger with two connections will be used mainly for service operations, but I wouldn't classify them as Supercharger Stations.)

However, I must say that I was surprised to see the West Palm Beach Service Center install a full sized Supercharger Station. I think that that was an exception because it is located close to I-95 and it is maintaining a large CPO inventory in addition to doing sales and service. Therefore the large number of Superchargers could be justified for both operations and customber use even with a lack of nearby amenities.

Just talked to service ranger picking my car up for it's annual service. He said the current plans for Jacksonville is to have a permanent local service range stationed here to handle the smaller jobs and adjustments with the local service ranger transporting cars for major service to Orlando.

that's ok but not what was promised/implied by tesla showing a service center as coming soon on their map for 2 years.

This makes sense, as I don't think the Town Center would be a great location for a full-fledged service station since it's not a warehouse space with bays and such.

I read an article this morning that has some details about the location, and I was even able to find the permits. Article is here:

The good news is that it looks as though the location is also going to have a Supercharger! It may not be good for a service center, but it definitely is a good location for a Supercharger. You can see the permits for the store and Supercharger if you visit:

Hi Jorge,

Thanks for the information.

I think that it is more likely that the chargers are level 2 HPWCs to support store operations and maybe some generic chargers for shoppers with other EVs.

If there were Superchargers at this location it would be only 42 miles to the Kingsland Superchargers.

The news article mentioned parking spaces and charging stations, which is what led me to believe it was a Supercharger and not L2 HPWC. However, I know that sometimes news articles like these do sometimes publish misinformation. I think one article said the new Orlando store was getting Superchargers, someone confirmed they were not, and the story was subsequently corrected.

This is true, although there are two other Superchargers in Florida with the same proximity. Ft. Drum and Port St. Lucie are only 42 miles apart. Port Orange and St. Augustine are also fairly close at 54 miles. It seems like California has one every 20 miles.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that the Jacksonville store will indeed have a Supercharger. I'd much rather Supercharge at the St. John's Town Center than at the St. Augustine outlets, as there are much better dining choices at the Town Center. I'll reach out to the contact in the permits and see what details he may have.

Regardless of how the information is reported, or occasionally misreported, what we know for sure, without exception, is that Tesla stores install HPWCs to support their operations.

Yes, I keep my fingers crossed as well. With the increase in production Tesla will need to "backfill" between existing Supercharger Stations to stay ahead of congestion. Let's hope that this short spacing could be the beginning of such a strategy.

Phone Number?

Does anyone have a phone number of the JAX location? I have a test drive scheduled for later today that I need to postpone. My inside agent in CA is out, left messages, etc but no responses. I don't want to leave the JAX people hanging.

I know this is a bit late to help Spyder, but for others the Tesla Find Us web page does list the St. Johns Town Center Pop-Up Gallerie.
