I've never had an issue with letting it dangle. If you have it plugged into a NEMA 14-50 outlet, those blades are really strong.

Or you can get some hooks from Home Depot, or just let it hang.

If you follow the view that NEC guidelines apply to the UMC, the 2014 NEC requires the UMC to be "securely attached" (625.44) because it is greater than 125V, which does not permit free hanging from the outlet.

mount some velcro and call it "securely attached"

My 14-50 plug is so close to my hanger that I simply ran the cord through the channel at the back of the holder, which takes all pressure off the 14-50, which is the problem. The charger thingy hangs directly below the hanger and seems to have no stress at all.
