Old S85D Order New S70D or New S85D Order?

4 days ago I ordered a S85D outfitted with this:

85 kWh Model S $79,900
All Wheel Drive Dual Motor $5,000
Red Multi-Coat Paint $1,500
Body Color Roof Included
19" Wheels Included
Tan Next Generation Seats $2,500
Carbon Fiber Décor $1,000
Textile Headliner Included
Superharger Enables Included
Tech Package with Autopilot $4,250
Smart Air Suspension $2,250
Ultra High Fidelity Sound $2,500
Doc Fee $1,170
Total $100,070

Now with the big changes I have 2 other options:

S70D

$75,000
All-Wheel Drive Included
Ocean Blue Metallic Paint $1,000 (like this color more)
All Glass Panoramic Roof $1,500
19" Wheels Included
Tan Next Generation Seats $2,500
Carbon Fiber Décor $1,000
Textile Headliner Included
Autopilot Convenience Features $2,500
Smart Air Suspension $2,500
Ultra High Fidelity Sound $2,500
Doc Fee $1,200
Total $89,700

or

S85D Same features as above for $10,000 more so $99,700

With new pricing I'm losing the power liftgate but gaining the pano roof.
For me money is no object but I can't stand to throw away money.
When I work, I work from home so no commute. Mostly would just drive around town and maybe try some vacation trips.
My deadline is fast approaching. What would you do?

The value is there for any of the options.
Having the cash in your account is not a requirement.

So, is it worth the depreciation on the extra $10K to have a bit more buffer on range when you do decide to go somewhere? In addition, only you can speak to the trade off between auto lift and pano.

Go with the 70D and don't buy the AutoPilot convenience features yet. That saves you an extra $2500. You end up paying $500 more to get them later (if you really want them), but that's cash you can keep in your pocket. I don't think the 85D is worth it anymore unless you really want the 4.4s sport mode acceleration. And 240 miles range is plenty. It's just 13 miles less than the P85D with 19" wheels, or just 2 miles less than a P85D with 21" wheels.

Conculsion:- The car that makes sense is the 70D wihout the premium package giving a total saving of $16353 from the car on order. By saving $16353k I lose 45km range, 0.8sec slower 0-100km and power liftgate. I don’t care about ambient lighting or fog lights.
I feel it’s a bit foolish to not go for the 70D - Just TODAY I test drive the Model S 70D and is was amazing compared to the 85D I had for a weekend. The 70D actually feels lighter and when you accelerate hard say when you are at 40km/h your head goes back more than it would in a heavier 85D. I am in the process of changing my order to the 70D with premium package and saving a whole $10k.

Given that funds aren't an issue, why not simply alter your S85D order under the old pricing scheme to add pano for $2,500? Since it was only 4 days ago, you aren't locked. So that eliminates the new S85D pricing and means to only compare old S85D with new S70D. Even if you confirmed but are still before leaving what would be the "second week" and thus, are subject to the change fee, you would still be eligible for the old pricing scheme and options, no?

I originally left off the pano because I never use them. I only added it later because the price dropped and I figured it would help resale down the road.

Cool, but I'm still confused. For the new S85D say you would pay $10k, but get the pano roof. Well you could pay $2,500 and get the pano on the old S85D and pocket $7,500. That's why I'm confused why the new S85D would even be considered?

Oh wait, you mean new S85D is $10k more than new S70D. My confusion is I thought you meant new S85D is $10k more than old S85D. I was in the wrong frame of reference with your "above" meaning within the "or" layer of logic, not the statement above the "or". This is what happens when you read the forum to take a break from debugging code! :)

The new order 85D would be $99,700 and include the pano. The old order 85D was $100,070 and did not include the pano but did include the power liftgate. The new order also had $500 higher priced paint so really the old price would be $99,570 if I could change the paint color.

If a ~$10-15k difference in price isn't going to make a difference in your long or short term finances, get the car with exactly the options you want. You'll only regret spending the extra money once. If you don't get exactly the car you want you'll be thinking about what could have been every time you get in the car.

With all the talk of of a 100D or a 110D coming down the pike I also figured I'd buy one of those when they come out to get the long range and stick my wife with the 70D.
