Is there a credit for the reduced price on next-gen seats?

I went and test sat the two seat options last week, and for me I am not sure the next gen seats are an improvement. I can see for "active performance driving" that people may like the added support. But to me it felt a little like the BMW seats which feels too narrow for comfort, for me.

I agree. Felt too narrow for my 6'3" frame.

If any of you tall/normal sized people end up with a car with NG seats and want to trade/sell let me know... I just ordered an inventory car (85D) and really want NG seats.

I'm the opposite though. I'm 38 years old, male, and VERY small ... 5'3" and 130-lbs. As such the normal seats are okay, but I'm swimming in them. I find them acceptable, but too big for me-- and my small size allows the NG seats to fit me like a glove. I wanted them, and would have ordered a new car with them, but the inventory discounts were just too tasty to pass up. :)

I do think you need to try them out. I am 6'0" ~210 and I have gotten a P85D loaner a couple of times. While the new seats are certainly a snugger fit, I like the original seats better.

This is my as well (same stats). I wouldn't say the NG seats are uncomfortable, just snug against my thighs and obliques. City driving, no problem. Taking a road trip from Miami to Atlanta, I would notice it.

The 2008 VW Eos seats were a dream to my frame (drove from Miami to Roanoke and was still full of energy when I got there), the 2010 Lexus IS seats feel just as supple, but I've never got long distance on them. The 2006 Toyota 4Runner seats work, but they are exhausting on long trips. Every three hours of driving my truck, I feel like taking a nap.

I just received a cheque by Fedex for $1250 and assume it is because I declined the next gen rear seats. There wasn't any note with it.

Did you trade in your first Model S to Tesla? If so, did you have the prepaid Service Plan on the car? I got a check with no explanation and it turns out it was the unused portion of the remaining Service Plan that they paid me for.

So, is there a question as to whether or not already ordered vehicles will get the next gen back seats or not? I had just assumed that because it was available (and I paid the full price) when I ordered the car, that I will get those next gen seats in the rear instead of a partial refund. Does anyone know if that is the case?

Yes, you should get the full front and rear next gen set, according to my DES. However, if you modify your order after confirmation (assuming you can do so before production), you revert to whatever the current price book lists, which currently would be the older rear seats and an invoice (not including change fees, if applied) of $1000 less for the next gen front only.

I do hope they get the seat configurations worked out soon. I would like to make a change to my confirmed configuration before production next month, but don't want mismatched seats.

I sold my car privately. I have asked about transferring the prepaid service plan without a definitive answer. I don't think I told the new buyer about it. How did you find out?

The check showed up with no explanation whatsoever. Luckily, my Delivery Specialist was very good to work with and when I emailed her she found out it was a refund for the unused portion of the Service Plan. That explained it since the amount on the check worked out perfectly to what the remaining unused portion of the service plan was (3/4 of what I paid for the service plan - I had one annual service done). I was surprised since I wasn't expecting anything back on that...
