Black Tesla Model S visits Detailed Designs Auto Spa for paint correction and clear bra wrap in Atlanta
If you have a black Model S, then you probably already know how easy it is to have swirled up paint. If you do not have one, you’ve probably read how easy it is to swirl a Model S’s black paint. Black Tesla Model S paint has somewhat of a reputation for being easy to damage.
This car was a case of the owner not really knowing what he was getting into when he got his black Model S. :crying:
During the consultation, prior to beginning the service on the car, Patrick expressed a desire for the paint to be corrected. Beyond corrected, he wanted a finish that was easier to maintain without the fear of creating new swirl marks in the paint. This was a perfect situation for full paint correction and a full body clear bra wrap. The clear bra would protect the corrected paint better than any wax, sealant or coating.
This project consisted of our Gold paint correction package, clear bra wrap and Modesta BC-03 applied over the rear hatch and painted roof/pillar areas.
The images are broken up into a few different parts. The first will be some before shots that show off how the Model S looked when it arrived.
The following part is the during shots where we show before/during/after shots from a static spot. We kept lighting and positioning in place so that it could tell the most accurate story of the transformation.
The next part will be photographs of the paint after paint correction but before being wrapped with clear bra. Because clear bra has an ability to mask defects, we want to be able to show off how beautiful the paint came out in direct sunlight.
Finally, we will show off how great the clear bra wrap came out.
How she looked upon arrival:
And to top it off, wheels that could stand a real detailing. When finished, the wheels will look brand new. Those dirty wheel dishes will be a thing of the past!
While direct sunlight is a great starting point, using critical lighting inside the shop for the paint correction is the best route due to the ability to replicate many natural lighting different conditions. We feel that if it can pass the test in the shop, it will look gorgeous in sunlight.
To get our 50/50 (half corrected and half in before condition), we used paint safe tape to create a hard line that we performed paint correction up to and then removed the tape to expose a before/after, or 50/50, shot of.
Now, let’s take a look at it in direct sunlight and see if it passes the test before we wrap it with clear bra. You may pick up on some of the dust on the car. These are not chips in the paint but rather just dust that found its way on the paint between being inside the shop and getting pulled outside.
