Travelling without charging stations?

Hi All.

I was contemplating getting a Tesla, but was wondering what life would be like if you couldn't recharge. What happens when you want to take a long trip and there's no charging station or outlet is handy?

thanks,

- Frank

"No outlet" = "No recharge" = "no go" ! But remember that electricity is everywhere. It's only a matter of finding the outlet or the human being willing to share one. You will learn to become creative. Your initial anxiety is real, but with some practice and a little adjustment you will find what many Tesla long-distance drivers have found: "no problem". (Just one example: TeslaTripping (large PDF file).)

Yes, the 240V outlets are harder to come by (and you don't want to be stuck with 110V unless already planning a longer "stay"), but the most obvious and convenient (but possibly pricey) opportunity is your nearest friendly RV park. But "soon" Tesla's will be able to charge off J1772 (no time line given) ... and THAT infrastructure is rapidly growing, especially with upcoming LEAF, Volt, etc. If you're near Sacramento you're actually already in pretty good shape w.r.t. Tesla charging infrastructure. (See EVCN_Tesla and MoreSites.)
