I mean your charge port door is open (101 S near Agoura around 11 am)

Mine popped open the other night while driving on the freeway, luckily it was dark & our friends that were following didn't notice.

Yes, it is a very nice feature. I originally discounted its value, but self closing is very nice, as well as the tap to open feature on the new cars.

Once you unplug, does the door automatically close on its own or do you still have to initiate the closing in some manner?

I heard the door open while driving & was notified on the instrument cluster where the turn by turn navigation usually is displayed, turn by turn was needed at the time since I was driving to a new location & having it blocked by charge port door open notification was a problem.

On the demo P85D I drove the other day the door closed automatically about five or ten seconds after I removed the charging cable.

Yes, that is the convenience; just unplug the car and the car closes the port on its own. Also, when using a J1772 to charge, the tap to open feature is great!

An electrically opening, self-closing charge port door first appeared on the dual motor Model S in December 2014.
