It was a night and day difference for me! When I first sat in a Tesla, I loved it. But the main thing I felt that was lacking when compared to the other car we were considering (BMW 650i) were the seats! The original Tesla seats just don't hug you or make you feel secure. The next gen seats are an ABSOLUTE must if you're used to higher end sport seats from other luxury/sporty cars IMO. If the insane amount of power isn't enough to convince you to get the P85D, the seats would be the next thing that attracted me.
Yes, "hug" is a great way to describe it. It's like you sit "on" the old seats, but you sit "in" the NextGen seats.
Exactly! Tesla should offer such a great improvement to other models not just the P85D. I'm sure everyone would go crazy for them after feeling the difference. I think they'll offer them eventually once they can satisfy all the demand they've been receiving from new P85D owners.
I test drove the P85D with NG seats and they are very sporty and nice to sit in....... but the lack of accent color piping is a major visual disappointment. My preference leans more towards cushier-luxury car (think S500) then sporty car, so I'd be torn to decide between the two. I've read you can get piping stitched into leather seats--that may be the ticket.
