Prototype Tesla Turbine Wheel

The RS102 also has a directional twist and comes in dark grey 21". Is this design similar to turbines?

To my eyes they look hugely different, despite clearly being the same design concept. Initially I thought it was that the vanes had a greater angle in the prototype, but comparing side-by-side that doesn't appear to be the case. The primary differences I see are the prototype has a very concave section around the center cap, and the production version has a little wrinkle in the center of each vane instead of being smooth.

They're nearly identical in design, but I think they look much more different than they should given how similar they are.

Last time I checked, those wheels were $2700 a piece. That was 4 years ago.
