Vendor New Tesla Keyed and Vandalized

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
In recent weeks, we have seen a wave of cars coming to us either after being repainted from vandalism or the paint protection film has been damaged from intentional vandalism. This brand new Tesla came to us today because the customer's car was vandalized (keyed) while he was out for dinner with his wife. The hood and the front fenders were badly keyed and in some areas, you can tell they tried very hard to leave marks and the film tore in some parts.

Fortunately those parts are protected. We will be removing and replacing these pieces today...more photos to come, but from our assessment, there is no damage to factory paint.

It says F COPS, maybe it was targeted at MS owners, and someone who doesnt like police.

did it belong to a cop?

No. The owner is with a tech company.

I'm impressed that the film stood up to that abuse. Do you know what brand it is? Now I really want a dash cam.

Yes, it held up surprisingly well considering that there were serious tears in the film in some areas. We wrapped all of the edges, so even the most exposed areas were properly protected. The product we use is ClearGuard Nano - their latest generation product (ultra clear - clearer than any other product we've used, the self-healing is faster than anything we've used and is about 30%+ thicker than Suntek....just slightly thicker than Xpel). There were some damage that self-healed with heat, but apparently some that were not repairable and the customer was ok with it considering his paint underneath is likely ok.

We just removed the hood piece and no damage fortunately! Here was our film removal process - now on to the fenders. Will post more pics later or tomorrow...

There is also an area on the hood that says "F*** Rich PPL" - so not sure if it's directed towards Model S owners, but this is very concerning.

There is a strong culture of envy happening in SF. Long time residents feel they are being pushed out of their neighborhoods by young tech company workers who are driving up housing prices along with everything else. I have friends in SF who post on Facebook at least once a week regarding what they perceive as an "us vs. them" battle against moneyed young techies. I would imagine a Tesla to be a prime target in such an environment.

Yes, there's another thread here about it:

Vandalized twice - Bigotry is alive and well on San Francisco Peninsula

We removed and replaced the hood and fenders. NO PAINT DAMAGE! Not even a scratch in the paint.

That is very amazing. You guys did both the tint and clear film on our 2 P85+s and they are holding up very well. Nobody can tell there's wrap on the car including my very picky co-worker. He told me to use his guy, but I declined. After having the wrap done, he wouldn't believe me there's protection on the car until I showed him where to look. He was blown away.

I bet the owner of this MS is glad to have the car wrapped.

here in vancouver, there's been rumblings amongst some dumbass activists looking to stir up trouble for honest small-business owners in the streets

i understand gentrification can hurt poor ppl, but gimme a break. stop harrassing innocent, hard working business ppl's.

Sorry to see that someone damaged your S and it's a sad state of affairs when people feel they need to do such things. Tesla Motors and the Model S have been shown in negative light for all the wrong reason which gives that moron the courage to key this S.

yes. Want to trust but this looks like a scare tactic sales job. There's a rash of one?

That is correct, as we have stated this is a customer's car. He brought this to us after realizing it was severely damaged and had already contacted the insurance company because he thought there was damage under the paint protection film. The estimate for repair was going to cost the insurance company $5000 to repaint and blend the doors. Had this car not have the clear bra on there, he would have been down 2 weeks without the car whereas we replaced the bra in one day's time.

Sorry to see you think this is a "scare tactic" from us. We would like to make known some very important points here:

1. We are an clear bra + window film installation company based solely in Fremont, CA
2. By us posting this, it does not benefit us by scaring someone to get the clear bra done who may be hundreds or thousands of miles away from us
3. We posted this to show the efficacy of today's paint protection film product (ClearGuard Nano) and how it saved the owner's factory paint.

Completely dumfounded by the utter disrespect of other people's properties and success. This has been an issue here in the Bay Area since the tech boom.

Personally I have all of my cars wrapped for peace of mind. My incoming 918 Spyder is going straight to Premier once I sign the registration papers at the dealer. They worked on my Ferrari, Lambo, and other cars including two inbound double Ds. I wouldn't let anyone else touch my cars at this point.
