The Verge:"Meet Gogoro, the outrageous electric scooter of the future".

I actually think that the concept of the batteries is way more important than the scooter itself (which is great as well, by the way).

It's actually a different kind of infrastructure for energy distribution.

Imagine if these batteries could/would be used by more/other vehicles!!! The network of GoStations could become the (fast-food-like) chain for fast-energy for all kinds of electric vehicles, just like McDonalds (and others) is for people.

"Grab some juice when your EV is thirsty".

I like the concept very much.

Not being tied to a gas station but being able to charge your EV at home overnight is one the biggest perks of owning and driving one. It's idiotic to take that away.
The thing is that in Taiwan, Gogoro's home country, most people don't have any outlets near where they park their motorcycles. This is a good solution for places like that. It is clearly not a good solution for suburban America. This is almost the same issue as people who own a Tesla and live in a high rise apartment or condo and have an underground parking space. It is very difficult to get charging stations installed in places like that. Now imagine that there is a corner of that parking garage equivalent to about 10 automobile parking spaces that contains 100 scooters. Swinging by one of the 3 7-11 stores along your route to work twice a week suddenly seems appealing.

I disagree. The batteries are explicitly designed to be removed and carried about, they even come with a nice ergonomic handle. Nothing easier than taking them out in the evening and charging them in your apartment, or at your workplace if you have a really long commute. Being to tied to the company and its fate by such a short leash will prove a considerable buying deterrent, unless they offer leases.

Look at Renault, even they had to make the batteries of the ZOE available for purchase instead of only leasing them to the customers because people disliked not being able to fully own their ride so much.
