The thing is that in Taiwan, Gogoro's home country, most people don't have any outlets near where they park their motorcycles. This is a good solution for places like that. It is clearly not a good solution for suburban America. This is almost the same issue as people who own a Tesla and live in a high rise apartment or condo and have an underground parking space. It is very difficult to get charging stations installed in places like that. Now imagine that there is a corner of that parking garage equivalent to about 10 automobile parking spaces that contains 100 scooters. Swinging by one of the 3 7-11 stores along your route to work twice a week suddenly seems appealing.
I disagree. The batteries are explicitly designed to be removed and carried about, they even come with a nice ergonomic handle. Nothing easier than taking them out in the evening and charging them in your apartment, or at your workplace if you have a really long commute. Being to tied to the company and its fate by such a short leash will prove a considerable buying deterrent, unless they offer leases.
